Establishing Cost-Effective Computational Models for the Prediction of Lanthanoid Binding in [Ln(NO3)]2+ (with Ln = La to Lu) (open access)

Establishing Cost-Effective Computational Models for the Prediction of Lanthanoid Binding in [Ln(NO3)]2+ (with Ln = La to Lu)

This article is a study evaluating the predictive capabilities of various ab initio methods in the calculation of Gibbs free energies of reaction for [Ln(NO₃)]²⁺ compounds (with Ln = La to Lu), as nitrates are critical in traditional separation processes utilizing nitric acid. The composite methodologies evaluated predict Gibbs free energies of reaction for [Ln(NO₃)]²⁺ compounds within 5 kcal mol⁻¹ in most cases from the target method [CCSD(T)-FSII/cc-pwCV∞Z-DK3+SO] at a fraction of the computational cost.

Relation between lifespan polytrauma typologies and post-trauma mental health (open access)

Relation between lifespan polytrauma typologies and post-trauma mental health

This article considers the count and types of traumas (polytraumatization) in relation to post-trauma mental health by conducting a study on the relation of polytraumatization patterns to PTSD clusters, depression, and impulsivity facets. Results indicate that individuals exposed to multiple PTE (potentially traumatizing event) types, particularly interpersonal traumas, may be at risk for more severe post-trauma symptoms.

Magnetic plasma expulsion (open access)

Magnetic plasma expulsion

The article presents one scheme for what is referred to as magnetic plasma expulsion, which would prevent the plasma from entering a given region. Magnetic plasma expulsion techniques may allow instrumentation access to the interiors of plasmas. Magnetic plasma expulsion techniques may also make alternative approaches for magnetic plasma confinement possible. Particle-in-cell simulation with the Warp code is used to study magnetic plasma expulsion. Some conditions for achieving magnetic plasma expulsion are reported.
