Recording of Etienne Saur's 2, rue Charles Dubois. The title of this piece is the address of the house where Jules Verne lived in Amiens. This work is comprised of 3 movements inspired by one of Verne's novels and was created as part of the open work project for the Synthèse Festival. The composer wrote this piece to explore Verne's fascination with the speed of means of communication.

Recording of Jadel Andreetto's 20 000 lieux around il centro del Welt. This work was inspired by Jules Verne. During a sleepless night, the composer read a variety of chapters from Verne's books and began playing basses, guitars, and their laptop. These improvisations created the framework of the finished piece.

Recording of Guillermo Rizzotto's Arquitectonica: automata 6''. This piece is the sixth section of a larger work that explores the automata motion and a machine developing music. It includes rhythm insinuations, motion melodies, and sound material recycled with a lot of returning patterns.

Recording of Paolo Besagno's Auto-Domestikalia. This work is based on an old study that the composer made years before and is dedicated to his mother. The inspiration for this work is his house and the sounds it makes due to changes in the environment.

Recording of Riccardo Santoboni's Automaticamente. This is a work for synthetic and concrete sounds that revisits the composer's memories about Jules Verne's worlds. Most sounds in this work belong from pulsar electromagnetic fields, water, voice, bells, and some acoustic instruments of Western tradition. A sample of Bach's Cello Suite no. 1 can be heard.

This piece plays with the possibility of that book being a futuristic novel, rather than a piece of 19th century literature. In this piece, a Victorian traveler journeys into the future of the present, listening for differences in an increasingly homogeneous world. This work for electronics includes balloon sounds the and sounds of counting numbers in French.

Recording of Ewan Stefani's Beginnings. The inspiration for this piece is the concept of denial and avoiding conclusions; rather than confronting, the focus here is upon description and observation. The voice guides the audience through a series of false beginnings that lead to another introduction, rather than a meaningful programmatic development. This piece was designed to represent discrete narrative or musical "voices" using speakers in the performance space. The pitched material is based on the first few passages of Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas".

Recording of Maurizio Alfonsi's La bottega delle idee. This is an electronic work that was created for magnetic tape. The inspiration for this piece was wanting to use concrete and electronic sounds to create a virtual laboratory where the construction of intellectual works comes to life.

Recording of Diana Simpson's Broken Nerve. This is a work for electronics that the composer considers a soundscape. The inspiration for this work came from electricity and the fact that it can be perceived and experienced in so many different forms. The composer wanted to create a piece which presented electricity as an animate presence. This piece explores the notion of "flux" associated with electricity. The composer gives thanks to the technical department of the RSAMD, Glasgow for their help in recording arc welding.

Recording of Göran Lindsjö's Captain Nemo's organ music. This work was inspired by one of Jules Verne's books titled, "Vingt mille lieues sous les mers”. This book tells the story of Captain Nemo who comforts himself by playing organ. The composer finds a similarity between the isolation that Captain Nemo felt and future humans exploring deep space.

Recording of Frédéric Kahn's La complainte du progrès. This is a work for electronics that expresses a worried look at the future. It intimates sound and resonant climates, both dark and uncertain, an immense laboratory of twilight where our various certainties slowly disappear. Overall, the work projects the idea of progress.

Recording of Chapman Welch's Cyclic Math Shred. This work is a controlled improvisation in 4 parts that incorporates two vernacular styles: heavy metal and psychedelic rock and roll. This piece is neither a caricature nor an homage to these styles, but rather an exploration of music that cannot be traced back to its origins. The sound material in this work includes samples of electric guitar.

Recording of Neil Rolnick's Digits. This work was inspired by the use of "digits", as in fingers, to both play the piano and operate a computer. This is a composition for solo piano and digital processing in which the computer only plays sounds which originate from the piano. There can also be a video component to this piece of live images of the pianist's fingers as they play. The overall effect of the piece is of a classical, virtuoso piano sonata, in which the piano itself has been bent slightly out of shape, amplified, and multiplied.

Recording of John Mallia's Donnie's Room. This work is a mixed media installation with animated projection, television monitors, spatialized sound, and objects. This work is an homage to the composer's distant cousin, Donnie. This work attempts to reflect the scale at which a person living in a debilitating condition might experience moments of peace despite their otherwise unconquerable physical and/or mental constraints. The sounds, images and objects used in the installation represent gifts to Donnie and/or symbolize comfort, entertainment, stability, perseverance and constraint.
