"Sacred Space II" Jacket in long-line style of dark blue denim with multiple bands of trim and mirrored panels on the front upper left and right with appliqued peacocks. The large center back panel of patchwork includes images of two appliqued swans with a fairy flying above, and a castle in the background. "Secret Garden" Jacket of purple linen with green and gold floral machine embroidery, with long, straight sleeves combined with bands of ribbon trim. The full center back panel includes an appliquéd fairy goddess, peacock, and tree of life with zodiac medallions designed by Zerner in the flora and fauna motif. Shirtwaist dress of dusty pink silk taffeta. Below knee length with shirt-style collar and center front opening with 11 black satin covered circular buttons, the opening edged with wide irregularly pleated band of self, with raw, frayed outer edge. Front waist darts angled forward from side seams; waist seam is sewn on outside and pressed upward; ends surged; widely flared skirt has 5 deep pleats at waist; hidden side seam pockets; 1/2 length sleeves with 1" buttoned cuffs with plackets and 2 pleats from cuffs upward. Hem edge exposed and surged. Unlined. Designer's label at inside back neckline: "Oscar de la Renta" Combination tag: "R 06 / 8N648 / 10 / Made in U.S.A."

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Al Kiracofe. Kiracofe joined the Navy in 1942 and received yeoman training at Great Lakes. Upon completion, he was assigned to CASU-22 at Quonset Point, helping to prepare squadrons for overseas deployment. He was then assigned to Carrier Air Group 41, which was just beginning to use radar for night flying. One of his duties as yeoman was to send letters of regret to the parents of soldiers who were killed in action. The experience upset him to the point that he remembered the date of each letter for the rest of his life. He was transferred to Carrier Air Group 10 aboard the USS Intrepid (CV-11) and helped to set up squadrons in Alameda from January 1943 to September 1944. At Okinawa, a kamikaze hit caused the deaths of eight men on the Intrepid. When the ship returned to Alameda for repairs, Kiracofe was so shaken up that he was ordered to a US Naval hospital for treatment and received a medical discharge in July 1945.
