For my Problem in-lieu-of-thesis, I proposed to execute a related body of work using "horse" as subject. It was my intent to investigate what effects the limits of "horse" instead of "figure" had on the content of my work.

The goal of this study was to construct a body of work encompassing a broad range of wheel thrown functional pots that are accented with hand built additions. I produced a total of forty pieces developed from four forms representing a respective increase in scale. I addressed technical and aesthetic issues during the process. These included glaze combinations, variations of established hand built additions, surface decoration, and form/shape manipulation.

The purpose of telecommunication network configuration optimization is to find the best homing relationship between tandems and switches so as to minimize interswitch traffic, or equivalently to maximize intraswitch traffic. Note that, since minimal interswitch traffic implies minimal IMT utilization, communication costs will also be minimal.

This problem tries to bring together a comprehensive array of themes. There has been a duality between painterly techniques, recognizable images and disjunctive imagery. The subtractive painting technique used has created smooth transitions between images and made these hybrid realities more convincing.

The goal of this work (entitled: Toward a More Personally Expressive Method of Working in Clay) was to create a body of work that was more personal, expressive, and less restrained that incorporate objects and non- clay elements.

This paper discusses the author's work creating 30 ceramic vessels experimenting with the relaxation of jar forms. James Robert Salazar discusses how these jars retain their proportions and structure despite the relaxation process, and the inspirations that created a personal aesthetic evident in the works.

For the problem in lieu of thesis, a series of ten works were created in which a male image replaced the female image; I continued to utilize the same materials, format, and centralized frontal figure. A record of the work was accomplished by maintaining a written and visual journal on progress and outcome. Some research was made into topics related to the work, and the findings from the literature comprise chapter two of the paper. In executing this body of work and researching related topics, I hoped to better understand my conscious and unconscious processes and motivations in creating both the self-portrait series and the new series.

This paper discusses the author's art works, which involved the integration of clay and steal to create sculptures of pipe forms similar to the machined forms they worked with in the agriculture and oil industries. Vicente García discusses the methodology of creation and analyzes the works.

For the purpose of this study I intended to use Majolica to allow me both more flexibility in the physical act of decorating my ceramic work, as well as the opportunity for the expansion of my selection of symbols. During this investigation the following questions were addressed: 1. Was the color range attainable with Majolica relevant to my work? 2. Was my chosen imagery complemented by the special properties of Majolica. 3. Did the textural possibilities of Majolica benefit my work?

My problem was to develop a personal symbolism within my paintings that expresses my identity. Who am I? Who have I been? Who will I be? Since these paintings are a way of telling my story. One aspect of the problem was communicating my ideas, making the paintings readable. Representational and recognizable images are culturally traceable symbols. The intended reading of the symbols may be generally understood; however, some degree of ambiguity was anticipated since ambiguity is an inherent aspect of symbolism. IN so much as I value symbolism and communicating ideas I believe that ambiguity is equally important. I proposed to balance readability with mystique. Things of the inner self are not immediately evident but found through contemplation. They hold mystery.

My work attempted to examine the emotional and psychological relationships between humans and the relationship of a human being with their inner self. I adopted the human figure as a potentially successful means of expressing these relationships. The language or symbolism I used in my work was derived directly from body language. This universal language is direct and immediate. Body language, posture, attitude, and tension of the figure are primary perceptions observed by the viewer. The immediacy of communication and directness of emotions through the use of body language were my main concerns. The major issue I dealt with was trying to invest those same emotions into my sculpture. My intention was to endow the sculpture, which consisted of a static unchanging pose and was created from an inert material, with a recognizable emotion and expressiveness that the human figure inherently carries.

This paper discusses the author's work creating five collagraph prints based on imagery used during the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration and the process of making these prints. Eduardo J. Garcia discusses how heritage impacted these works and explores the meaning behind the folk art imagery.

In pursuing the humorous content in my work, my surrealistic imagery could potentially enhance the impact of my irony-based work. I explored a variety of jewelry formats with different motifs and imagery to enhance the combination of the comedic with the enamelled imagery.

This paper discusses the creation process of thirteen works by the author addressing women's issues using mannequins of actual women as a metaphor. Robyn Beirman Jamison discusses interviewing and photographing the women, creating the works, and the imagery of objectification of women by society.
