The underlying model for this composition is based on different stages of schizophrenia, highlighting the difficulty in distinguishing between internal and external worlds. The composer states the importance of space and spatial relationships among the sounds when portraying this condition. Representations of real and surreal sonic environments appear both separately and juxtaposed throughout the work.

Soundings of Angel

Recording of John Levack Drever's Soundings of Angel. This work presents and responds to three different readings of "Angel" a poem by Alice Oswald, which itself was inspired by paintings of angels by Cecil Collins and the gardens at Dartington Hall. The work was commissioned by the Institut National de l'Audiovisuel - Groupe de Recherches Musicales and premiered in the Salle Olivier Messiaen, Maison de Radio France, Paris.

Flute melt

Recording of Teodoro Pedro Cromberg's El Arpa, la Mano, la Sombra. This is a work for harp and electroacoustic track. This piece has two sections that are preceded by a prelude and separated by an interlude. In the first section the instrument is more abstract whereas in the second section there is more emphasis on the instrumental possibilities of the harp. The composer credits Ricardo Biancchini, who created one of the sounds used in the Csound orchestra.

Corda e Cabaça

Recording of Fernando Iazzetta's Corda e Cabaça. The main sound material used in this work comes from a Berimbau, an instrument of Afro-Brazilian origin. Burning River

Recording of Wayne Siegel's Burning River. This is a work for four channel tape and was commissioned by the New Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum with financial support from the Danish Arts Foundation. The composition was inspired by a section in The Iliad by Homer: Achilles running amok against the Trojans. The composer states his attraction to this section was due to the many references of sound within the passage and he attempts to emulate those in the composition.
