Broadus is interested in helping arrange a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art for first graders at T.D. Marshall. Broadus writes that she has spoken with Aileen Horan at the Dallas Museum of Art and has arranged for a free field trip for the class, and that the buses will also be provided by the museum. Broadus hopes that O'Neal will consider this opportunity for her students and to contact her as soon as possible to discuss further details.

The Institute is excited to have E.A. Carmean, Director of the Ft. Worth Modern Art Museum, serve as chair of the committee. Their first scheduled meeting will be a luncheon on May 25, 1990 at the University Union. Included with the letter was a map of the University, showing their guests where they will be able to park the day of the meeting. The map is not present with the letter.

A newspaper clipping featuring an article on North Hi Mount Elementary school, where art is taking a deeper meaning for students at this Fort Worth school near the cultural district of town. The school was awarded a special five-year Annenburg grant. Headed by art teacher Cynthia Riddle, students are learning about art history, art criticism, art production and art aesthetics.

A grant for $600,000 from the Edward and Betty Marcus Foundation will provide stipends for fifteen NT graduate students studying art education during the next three years. The grant will continue paying for the NT's Marcus Fellows Program until August 2001. The purpose of the fellowship is to allow graduate students to develop innovative ways to teach art and art appreciation.

Jay Gates, the director of the Dallas Museum of Art is contributing in a collaborative project to build art education computer software for schoolchildren. The collaborative effort is a funded project by the Edward and Betty Marcus foundation where the Dallas Museum of Art will be working with the University of North Texas to develop this program.

A newspaper clipping, published by The Dallas Morning News, featuring an article on Edith and Peter O'Donnell. The O'Donnells were just honored the 64th Linz Award for their philanthropy in the arts, education, science and medicine in the Dallas area. As co-founded of Young Audiences of Greater Dallas, Edith O'Donnell brought the music, dance and theater programs to DISD and sixteen other school systems in the DFW area.

A memorandum from Richard L. Simms, to the College of Educational Faculty in regards Chancellor Hurley and Simms returning from a Project Bluebonnet sponsored by Phone Company Summit at the Tower Club in Dallas regarding support for SchooLINC and Processional Development Center. Simms writes that all of the phone companies are now committed to proving the phone lines necessary to transmit interactive instructional video and high speed data transfer free of charge for the project's first year. The project in question is the teleconference between Texas and the Nebraska Institute.

A e-mail from William McCarter to Jack Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The e-mail is in regards to McCarter talking with Sheila Brown the other day about the cost of the propose October D.L. activities. Brown has asked if the North Texas Institute could cover some of the uplink bill but McCarter responded that they were spending $5000 on a video and had no additional funding.

The letter is in regards to their previous correspondence as North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts has sought grant support from the foundation. Beech writes that the Trustees did go over the proposal and has once again declined to commit.

A letter from John Paul Batiste, Executive Director at the Texas Commission on the Arts, to Mark Elder, Assistant Vice President of Research at the University of North Texas, about TCA's approval of a matching financial award for $4,422 for the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts grant application. Enclosed with the letter are contracts that must be signed and returned to the TCA immediately. The contracts are for services between TCA and UNT. Batiste notes that the grant is schedule to be paid during the month of September and the Evaluation Report is due on or before September 30, 1992. Jack D.
