Czerner discusses Hitler's rise to power and the initial effect of Nazi power on Jews, her father's departure for Russia, growing up in Frankfurt, growing antisemitism, the Gestapo, her schooling, the Kristallnacht, hiding, fleeing Germany to England without her mother, loss of her family members to the Holocaust, learning her father survived the war, moving to the US and marrying her husband Albert, and reflections on the Holocaust and Jewishness.
