This research is an empirical investigation of human factors on the use of database systems. The problem motivating the study is the difficulty encountered by end-users in retrieving data from a database.

This work includes two different areas of research. Both areas are related to the combustion of the binder-enhanced densified refuse derived fuel (bdRDF) with high sulfur coal and examining trace elements. The first area of this work involved studying the trace metals in the combustion gas of bdRDF/coal blend and the effect of the binder, CA(OH)2, on reducing the trace elements emissions. The second area of work involved studying the trace elements in the fly ash and the effect of the dRDF and the binder of trace metals.

In this study a library of EcoRI fragments encompassing the entire TOL region of the Pseudomonas putida TOL plasmid pDK1 was constructed in the Escheria coli cloning vector pBR325.

The study ascertained elementary school teachers' and supervisors' views about their role in the implementation of Sankofa (Go back and retrieve) in school music. Sankofa mandates the integration of distinctive Ghanian traditional values and practices with Western educational concepts in the school curriculum. In music, it calls for the fusion of multi-ethnic musics of Ghana with Western musical concepts in public school music instruction. Some concerns expressed by Ghanian music educators regarding teachers' negative attitudes toward Sankofa in public school music had prompted the study.

In this study, a survey instrument measuring knowledge and attitudes about AIDS, information sources about AIDS, and personal behavior was administered to college students. Students completed the survey during a single class period.

By presenting the auditor as a unifying principle that links Browning's earliest works to his dramatic monologues, this dissertation enhances the importance of the ever-ignored experimental works in developing the dramatic monologue technique. An exploration of the emergence and development of the auditor has an additional, but never ancillary, effect of proclaiming the originality and inventiveness of Browning's dramatic technique.

The problem of this study was the lack of knowledge about user satisfaction with the library services which are provided at the library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the study were two-fold: (1) to measure, evaluate, and analyze user satisfaction with the library services provided at the MFA Library for the employees; and (2) to develop a model for evaluation of user satisfaction of library services in government libraries in Saudi Arabia.

The primary objective of this study was to describe and analyze visions of 21st century education articulated by prominent individuals involved with current school reform and restructuring efforts. A second objective was to describe and analyze those images of the most likely educational scenario in the 21st century and the perceived barriers that would prevent realization of those idealized visions.

The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing teachers' decisions to use textbooks in United States history classrooms. Textbook use was investigated in terms of planning and preparing classroom instruction, student assignments, teachers' attitudes toward reading and student comprehension abilities, textbook quality, and alternative resources. A chi-square analysis was conducted to determine significant relationships between factors.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the choral works of Colin Brumby, with a special focus on the musical-textual relationships of selected works from his body of choral compositions, which number more than one hundred and twenty. This investigation includes information gathered in Australia at the University of Sydney, the University of Queensland, and the Australian Music Centre, as well as information furnished in a personal interview with the composer in Brisbane, Australia, in June 1994, in addition to an August 1994 telephone interview cnducted with Thomas Shapcott, the Australian poet with whom Brumby collaberated on over twenty choral compositions.

In this study, nineteen cases of suspected or clinically diagnosed Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) were tested for molecular deletions by in situ hybridization with two DNA probes, IR4-3R and GABRB3. Both probes are specific for sequences within the chromosome region 15q11-13, with IR4-3R located within the putative PWS region and GABRB3 in the distal area associated with Angelman Syndrome.
