Effect of Urbanization on the Water Resources of Warminster Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania (open access)

Effect of Urbanization on the Water Resources of Warminster Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania

Purpose: This investigation by the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Warminster Municipal Authority, has three purposes: (1) to determine how urbanization has affected ground water and low streamflow in Warminster Township and parts of the surrounding municipalities; (2) to describe the hydrologic system; and (3) to assess the availability of ground water.

Baseline Water Quality of Schmidt, Hornbeam and Horseshoe Lakes, Dakota County, Minnesota (open access)

Baseline Water Quality of Schmidt, Hornbeam and Horseshoe Lakes, Dakota County, Minnesota

This report presents the results of water sampling from three lakes in Dakota County over an eighteen-month period. The author determined that "the lakes were shallow, non-stratified, and nutrient-enriched." It includes tables and other figures.

Comparison of the Propane-Area Tracer Method and Predictive Equations for Determination of Stream-Reaeration Coefficients on Two Small Streams in Wisconsin (open access)

Comparison of the Propane-Area Tracer Method and Predictive Equations for Determination of Stream-Reaeration Coefficients on Two Small Streams in Wisconsin

From abstract: "This study was made to identify the best predictive equations for a stream's reareation-rate coefficient. Reaeration-rate information is needed in dissolved-oxygen modeling work, but an actual tracer measurement is not always possible."

Data-Base System for Northern Midwest Regional Aquifer-System Analysis

From abstract: This report presents a newly-developed "computerized data-base system . . . to facilitate collection and use of large quantities of data for a model study of the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer system in the Northern Midwest." It includes maps and diagrams.

Effects of Volcanic Ash on the Benthic Environment of a Mountain Stream, Northern Idaho (open access)

Effects of Volcanic Ash on the Benthic Environment of a Mountain Stream, Northern Idaho

Purpose and scope: The purpose of the study was to determine whether a thin layer of volcanic ash measurably affects aquatic environments. Study objectives were to: (1) Determine the amount of ash initially deposited in Big Creek basin and the amount remaining 1 year after the eruption, and (2) describe the impact of ash on water quality and benthic invertebrate communities.

Hydrologic Effects of Proposed Changes in Management Practices, Winnebago Pool, Wisconsin (open access)

Hydrologic Effects of Proposed Changes in Management Practices, Winnebago Pool, Wisconsin

From abstract: "Various changes in the management practices for the Winnebago pool to protect wetlands adjacent to the pool and to assure adequate streamflow downstream from the pool have been proposed. The effects of three such changes were estimated by using a digital reservoir model to simulate daily stage and discharge."
