Lloyd expresses her appreciation to Carswell for his kind and thoughtful letter noting that Claude would have liked it. She advises that Carswell was one of Claude's dearest friends, that his illness was brief and that she was proud and happy to have been part of "this wonderful person's life" and no one need be sorry for her.
