The problem of the present study was to determine the self concept of selected Negro boys and girls and to study the relationships of their self concept to their intelligence and academic achievement.

The purpose of this study was to identify reading achievement of pupils assigned to the reading clinic and analyze and compare this achievement by grade levels with levels of intelligence. More specifically, the investigation attempted to determine: 1. The grade level at which the reading clinic was most effective; 2. The effects of short duration exercise routines on the development of physical fitness.

The problem of this study was to compare the relative gains made in the development of oral language skills in two groups of first grade pupils when two different approaches to beginning reading instruction were used. The two approaches were: (a) the language experience approach, Approach A, and (b) the traditional basal reader approach, Approach B. The problem of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a guidance-structured summer session for entering university freshmen. The performances of students entering this type of program were compared with those of students entering a traditional type of summer school. It was the position of this study that the Hullian theoretical concept of anxiety as a drive is inappropriate in relation to an understanding of the effects of anxiety on the complexities of college performance. The purpose of this study was to compare a group of successful and unsuccessful pupils who were in the fifth and sixth grades. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between certain upset family conditions and the performance of young children from these families as measured by selected instruments. This research was also concerned with the lack of provision in commonly used evaluative techniques for discrimination between those children who actually possess low ability and those whose ability to perform is diminished because of emotional problems.
