Caption: "Expensive rubble piles up on sidewalk in front of Rosenfield's Jewelers, 227 W Main, after a blaze ripped through the building Sunday morning. A fireman is shown digging into the rubble trying to salvage some of the heavy silver that was on display near the front of the store. Jewelry, shina, silver and TV and hi-fi sets were destroyed in the blaze. Lane's Quality Shoes, 223 W Main, and Stevens, 229 W Main, were damaged by some smoke and water. The jewelry store was destroyed, but the loss has not been estimated."

Caption: "A three-alarm fire destroyed the Rosenfield's Jeweler's store at 227 W Main Sunday morning and damaged two other adjoining stores. Smoke could be seen as far away as NW 108. Companies from three districts battled the blaze. Ernie Bean, 1140 SW 28, a fireman from engine company 9, was nearly trapped when the reinforced concrete ceiling collapsed as flames swept through the store. Other firemen pulled him to safety at the instant. Dense smoke from burning hewelry store obscures downtown skscrapers."

Hampered by underwater debris, dragging operations continued into the afternoon Monday for a 20-year-old Oklahoma City man who disappeared under the swriling waters of the North Canadian River Sunday. Rescue units began dragging the flotsam-laden river at 7:30 a.m. for the body of Cahrles Bentley, 6611 NW 38. The search will continue into the evening hours if necessary.
