Bodice forms V at center back narrowing into pleats at closure with petal-shaped fold of black crepe which covers back of bodice and snaps below waistline. Center back zipper. Bodice has attached black corset with boning with separate zipper and cups of black lace. Unlined. b)Vest of black crepe. Sleeveless with jewel neckline. Cropped length at front and elongating to tails at sides and back. Center back opening with single hook & eye closure at neckline.

Letter from French tailor company David Chemisier to Harris L. Kempner informing him they are moving and providing an address for future use.

Pamela/halo hat of royal blue felt. The high, cylindrical crown is slightly domed at top, and is encircled by the wide brim, which is upturned almost to vertical, forming a "wall" around the crown. The hat is unlined, with a dark blue inner grosgrain ribbon headband, and small attached comb to help secure hat to wearer's head. Designer's label: "Balenciaga / 10, Avenue George V. Paris"

Calotte of beaded black satin. Evening hat in the form of a calotte (also spelled "calot"). The low, domed crown is made of segments of black satin over a core of woven straw. The surface is embellished with black plastic sequins and beads of various sizes. At top of crown is small squashed spheroid finial covered with a pattern of cylindrical and circular faceted black plastic beads. Inside lower edge of crown is black grosgrain ribbon band. Sewn behind band are three elastic loops to help secure hat to head of wearer. No labels.

Back has two sewn on loops to be attached to snap closure belt loops on dress.

Two-piece dress of black silk with black double satin 3" wide tie belt. a) Overblouse has weighted yolk neckline and gathers below. Sleeveless. Snaps up center front. Unlined b) Below knee-length tubular skirt with narrow waistband. Hook & eye closure over concealed zipper. c) Tie belt of 3" wide black satin with frayed ends.

Cocktail dress of navy blue (with slight purple overtones) lace.

Three piece cocktail suit of black quilted silk damask. a) Sleeveless tunic overdress in a sheath style that overlaps in back with three covered buttons at center back. b) Matching skirt that hangs 8 inches below dress. c) Matching jacket with bermuda collar.
