The problem of the present investigation was to study the soundness of guidance practices in a metropolitan high school approximately one year after the initiation of a program of guidance services. The purposes of the study were: 1. To determine to what extent the objectives of the guidance program were met. 2. To determine to what extent students, parents, and faculty considered that the guidance program had made a contribution to the school program. 3. To determine what objective measures revealed as to the effectiveness of the guidance program.

The methods were (1) the conventional teacher-classroom approach as suggested by Robert Ottman's Elementary Harmony, and (2) a linear programed book to be used in conjunction with a series of tape recordings.

The problem of this study was to ascertain the degree and kind of relation which might exist between a) certain measured indices of general creativity, ingenuity, and artistic judgment, and b) teacher judgments of artistic creativity within a senior high-school art population. One of the major purposes of this study was to identify a test or tests of creativity which might be used with senior high-school students to find those students with artistic potential who either should be counseled into art classes or for whom particular kinds of teaching procedures should be developed.

In addition to the general problem, the specific problems were as follows: 1. To determine the relative independence of dependence of each of the variables in relation to their influence on each of the other variables. 2. To determine the degree of predictive validity with which behavioral regression equations can be used in terms of intelligence, achievement, and socio-economic status.

This study contained the following subdivisions: (1) a review of current college faculty development practices, (2) a review of current executive development practices within industry, (3) an explanation of the philosophy and technique of self-appraisal in professional development, (4) an application of the technique in six institutions of higher education, and (5) an analysis of results obtained from these institutions along with some suggestions for further research.

More specifically, the study attempted to deal with the following questions: 1. What types of social deviance are characteristic of children at varying levels of creativity? 2. Is creativity more evident in children demonstrating certain socially deviant characteristics? 3. How much social acceptance is there of children demonstrating varying levels of social deviance and varying levels of creative ability? 4. What relationships exist "between creativity and intellectual ability, academic achievement and social behavior?

A Comparative Analysis of Selected Characteristics of Intellectually Superior Male Students who Persist and Those who do not Persist in an Advanced Placement Program

This study made a comparative analysis of certain selected characteristics of a group of academically able male youth who persisted and those who did not persist in a five-year academic sequence in mathematics and science. Two major questions were dealt with in this study: 1. Can the persisting youth as a group be distinguished from those youth who did not persist in this academic sequence on the basis of their functioning in certain nonintellective areas? 2. Are the performances of the persisting youth on certain dimensions elevated in the same directions as are the performances of mature creatives who have been intensively studied on the same dimensions?

This study was undertaken to make a comparative analysis of selected nonintellective characteristics of intellectually superior female students who persisted and those who did not persist in an Advanced Placement Program offering sequentially planned course offerings in mathematics and science. A second dimension of the study was an investigation of selected nonintellective traits to determine if the students' scores are elevated in the same direction as those of superior female adults who have been studied on essentially the same dimensions.

Since the initial experiences of the college freshman were regarded as critical to his personal and social adjustment, the present study had as its primary purpose the investigation of the effects of deferred rush and pledging on a student's first year as Southern Methodist University. More specifically, the study investigated the effects of deferred rush and pledging on the following factors: 1. The effect on academic achievement of a selected group of freshmen. 2. The effect on the drop-out rate of a selected group of freshmen. 3. The effect on the extent to which a selected group of freshmen use the University Health Center. 4. The effect on the extent to which a selected group of freshmen used the Psychological Services of the University.

The Relationship between Teachers' Perception of Administrative Dimensions and the Morale Status of Teachers in Certain Texas Schools

The first purpose of this study was to determine teachers' perception of administrative policies, procedures, and practices in the various administrative units in three Texas school systems and to test the significance of the relationship between the teachers' perception of the dimensions of these aspects of administration and the morale status of the teachers in these various administrative units. The second purpose of this study was to identify those policies, practices, and procedures, as perceived by the teachers, which most frequently are associated with and show a significant relationship to a high morale tendency and those which most frequently are associated with and show a significant relationship to a low morale tendency. The third purpose of this study was to interpret the significant relationships in terms of administrative dimensions and implications which may suggest certain policies, procedures, and practices for the improvement of teacher morale in the public schools.
