The problem of this study was to ascertain the degree and kind of relation which might exist between a) certain measured indices of general creativity, ingenuity, and artistic judgment, and b) teacher judgments of artistic creativity within a senior high-school art population. One of the major purposes of this study was to identify a test or tests of creativity which might be used with senior high-school students to find those students with artistic potential who either should be counseled into art classes or for whom particular kinds of teaching procedures should be developed.

This was a study of the status of coaches of boys' interscholastic basketball in class A senior high schools in Texas.

The salivary gland chromosomes of Chironomus tentans larvae collected from White Oak Creek, an area contaminated by radioactive waste from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and from six uncontaminated areas were examined for chromosomal aberrations. White Oak Creek populations were exposed to absorbed doses as high as 230 rads per year or about 1000 times background. Chromosomal maps were constructed to make a general comparison of the banding pattern of the salivary chromosomes of the C. tentans in the East Tennessee area with those of Canada and Europe. These maps were used as a reference in scoring aberrations. Fifteen different chromosomal aberrations were found in 365 larvae taken from the irradiated population as compared with five different aberrations observed in 356 larvae from six control populations, but the mean number of aberrations per larva did not differ in any of the populations. The quantitative amount of heterozygosity was essentially the same in the irradiated and the control population, but there were three times the variety of chromosomal aberrations found in the irradiated area. From this evidence it was concluded that chronic low-level irradiation from radioactive waste was increasing the variability of chromosomal aberrations without significantly increasing the frequency. The study of metric spaces is closely related to the study of topology in that the study of metric spaces concerns itself, also, with sets of points and with a limit point concept based on a function which gives a "distance" between two points. In some topological spaces it is possible to define a distance function between points in such a way that a limit point of a set in the topological sense is also a limit point of the same set in a metric sense. In such a case the topological space is "metrizable". The real numbers with its usual topology is an example of a topological space which is metrizable, the distance function being the absolute value of the difference of two real numbers. Chapters II and III of this thesis attempt to classify, to a certain extent, what type of topological space is metrizable. Chapters IV and V deal with several properties of metric spaces and certain functions of metric spaces, respectively.

The purpose of the study is to determine if significant differences and relationships exist between students who enrolled late and those who enrolled on time at Tarleton State College between the years 1955-1962 inclusive. The study involves comparing the records of 325 freshman and sophomore students who registered late with those of 325 matched freshman and sophomore students who enrolled on time.

For this study, the forms of the movements of forty-four symphonies of Mozart-those appearing in the Breitkopf and Hartel "complete" edition of his works- were analyzed. For convenience of reference, the symphonies are discussed in this thesis in their conventional numbering-that of the Breitkopf and Hartel edition- except for six symphonies that appeared in a supplementary volume and are inserted in this study into their approximately correct chronological positions.
