Technical report investigating the solvent extraction of thorium. The solvent extraction of thorium by the chelating agent, thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA), has proved to be a very effective tool for studying the complex ion chemistry of thorium. This study led to the establishment of the existence of aqueous complexation by the chelating agent.

From introduction: "This preliminary report deals with the time course of development of thymic lymphomas in female C57BL/6J mice given fractionated whole body Co60 gamma irradiation as compared to animals treated with large doses of H3TDR and/or H3CR and untreated controls." This report contains a table and two figures outlining the findings of the experiment thus far.

This technical report introduces a new method to capture entire cell populations in the intestines of rats, which have been continuously exposed to radiation.This report finds that the "total number of cells per crypt found after 5 days of irradiation decreases with increasing dose rate." This technical report discusses techniques that have been developed for "computing the angular thermal flux spectrum emerging from a lattice. These methods are applied to water lattices and it is found that the computed spectra are sensitive to the geometrical description of the lattice, but insensitive to the anisotropic scattering by water. Comparisons with measured spectra indicate that corrections for gradients and the finite size of the experimental lattice are important." -- from abstract (p. 3).

From abstract: "The rate of flow of a tagged species of a material substance through a permeable membrane is proportional to the rate of flow of the substance itself when, and only when, the species mol [sic] fraction of the substance is the name on both sides of the barrier. The ratio of the osmotic transfer coefficient of a substance in a particular barrier to the exchange coefficient, determinable with a tracer, is greater than one."

Report describes a few experiments designed to test the analysis of some systems where chemical energy can be converted to electric energy. From Abstract: "If a chemocouple is defined as an isothermal closed circuit, composed of two or more homogeneous ionic aqueous phases separated by two or more barriers of different sets of ionic transport numbers, we find that a spontaneous electric current flows in the closed circuit."

The report objective is to establish the amino acid composition of sperm whale myoglobin. From Summary: "The homoprotein that comprises 96% by weight of the protein present in crystalline sperm whale myoglobin may be received into at least five components by chromatography on the carboxylic resin IRC-50."
