Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Seared Debris was all that was left of the St. Robert's Bellarime Catholic Church in Jones after flames gutted the $25,000 building early Friday. Almost all religious objects were destroyed. Residents, awakened at 6 a.m., saved the pews and a few of the objects. A new $20,000 annex and kitchen did not burn, but were badly damaged by water. Residents said they intend to clean up the annex and use it as a sanctuary until they can rebuild their church. It was the only Catholic church in Jones. Fire trucks from Oklahoma City, jones and Choctaw battled the blaze for an hour before it was brought under control."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Above is an up-to-date version of the new fairgrounds ball park which will soon house the city's 89ers. If you have not yet bundled your little brood into the old family roadster and tooled out around 10th and Grand Avenue, there is a bit of eye popping in store. This bureau made the latest inspection trip, convoyed by general manager Owen Martinez. The scene is most impressive at the new fairgrounds home of the Oklahoma City 89ers, reflecting with how much dispatch the enormous job has progressed in the few months since it became certain OC would return to professional baseball as a member of the Class AAA American Association.......But by April 19 the park will be well under control for the opener, although much of the spring and summer will be devoted to ironing out the bugs and unexpected obstacles, and applying the final touches."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Barefoot and clad only in pajamas, an Oklahoma City family of three fled their home in near zero weather Saturday when fire swept away their roof and ate its way down the walls at 9201 N Bryant. Vollie Ellis, his wife, and a son home on vacation were routed by the blaze about 5 a.m. Shivering firemen fought the blaze more than 3 hours with water turning to ice almost as soon as it struck the ground...The blaze apparently started in a hot water heater, however, actual cause of the fire is not known. Ellis said he awoke when he heard the fire crackling in an adjacent room. the entire room was engulfed in flames, he said......Damage estimated were expected to reach $10,000. Ellis said he will rebuild the home. Ellis and his wife, a Horace Mann Elementry school teacher, will live with relatives while the home is rebuilt, he said. Two early model automobiles, both collector's items, a 1934 Packard and a 1932 Cadillac, narrowly escaped the fire. One was parked outside the home and the other in the garage. Both relics belong to their son, Donald, …

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "While the remaining 2,208 prisoners were called to Thanksgiving dinner by a whistle blast, these lucky nine knew no such regimentation. They dawdled over their turkey and took their time with the dressing. They relished their cranberry sauce and smacked their lips over the pumpkin pie. Not so with the 2,208 guys still behind the high walls at McAlester."
