B-58 Flight Crew preparing for Bendix Trophy run

The Convair B-58 flight crew make final preparations with another officer before a flight from Los Angeles to New York. This flight would win the 1962 Bendix Trophy: Lt. John T. Walton (defensive systems operator), Capt. Robert G. Sowers (pilot), and Capt. Robert McDonald (navigator). In this photo, the flight board behind the crew says, "Carswell Air Force Base," at the top.
