The plane, qhich cost more than $3 million, was one of the three used by Lockheed to test structural modifications found necessary after the disastrous Tell City, Ind., crash. J. B. Mithcell, assistant FAA school superintendent, and Warren Smith, chief of the school's aircraft training, said the Electra would be flown about 1,200 hours a year in training pilots...The FAA plane will seat only 18."
