Caption: "Ground was broken Wednesday noon to start construction of twin bridges that will span the South Canadian River south of Oklahoma City. The two identical bridges, costing $1,149,000, will replace the present Newcastle bridge, which was built in 1927 at a cost of $400,000. They will carry traffic on U.S. 62 and 277 and will link Oklahoma City with the proposed toll road to the southwest. Speaking briefly at Wednesday's groundbreaking ceremony, Frank D. Lyons, state highway director, noted that the bridges will be 1,727 feet long, some 600 feet shorter than the old bridge...Construcion contract for the project was awarded last December to the Tway Construction Co. Completion is expected in 300 working days...Chamber of Commerce officials from Oklahoma City, Chickasha nd Lindsay turned out for the ceremony, as well as delegations from Newcastle and Blanchard...John Kilpatrick jr., Oklahoma City chamber president, served as mater of ceremonies....The groundpreakers Wednesday included Kilpatrick, Jack Tway, representing the contractor; Lyons, H. Gyles, Harrah physician, suffocated early Wednesday when flames swept though living quarters in the rear of a clinic he operarted. The body was taken to the Wilson Funeral Home in Harrah. Services will be in Weatherford. Cause Not Known Cecil Honea, Harrah volunteer fire chief, said the fire was discovered about 3 a.m. Cause has not been determined, he siad. Dr. Gyles, about 45, was injuried about a year ago when a television antenna pole he was installing at his clinic fell on him.....Dr. Gyles established the clinic in Harrah. He had been in practice there about five years and lived alone at the clinic."
