[The 1962 Order of Lafayette Freedom Award Dinner]
This film footage, presented by LifeLine, shows the activities of the Order of Lafayette Freedom Award Dinner held December 3, 1962, at the Americana Hotel in New York, NY to honor distinguished leadership in combating Communism. Representatives from the New York County American Legion, National Legion of Greek-American War Veterans, Polish-American Patriotic Society, The Society of American Wars, and the Catholic War Veterans were present. Also present were Katharine St. George, Rear Admiral John J. Bergen, U.S. Senator John L. McClellan, and broadcaster Fulton Lewis, Jr. President General of the Order of Lafayette, Hamilton Fish, presided over the ceremony. Presenters and award recipients included Princess Diana Eristavi, Anna Chennault (widow of the Flying Tigers Commander Claire L. Chennault), James H.R. Cromwell, former Governor of New Jersey Charles Edison, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, Major General Hugh J. Casey, Ambassador Spruille Braden, Colonel Alvin M. Aeroradioactivity Survey and Areal Geology of Parts of East-Central New York and West-Central New England (ARMS-I)
Report concerning "[a]n airborne gamma-radiation survey of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and parts of New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont" (p. 5) made between 1958 and 1960 that indicated that a broad range of radioactivity exists in those areas depending on the type of bedrock. Correlations are drawn between this radioactivity and the geology of the region.
