Cocktail Ensemble - Dress and Jacket

Cocktail ensemble of orange wool with embroidered pattern of small squares of orange and silver novelty thread which form a larger abstract pattern. Ensemble consists of: A) Cocktail dress. Knee-length, sleeveless dress with rounded neckline edged with gold braid trim accented with gold studs and silver rhinestones. Bodice with princess seaming for fit. Attached belt of same fabric at natural waist edged by bands of same braid as neckline. Skirt gathers at waistline, and has side slit pockets at hips. Hem of skirt trimmed with same braid as neckline. Dress has a center back zipper, and is fully lined in orange acetate. Retailer's label at neckline to right of zipper: "Balliets / Oklahoma City, Okla." Size "6" tag at base of zipper. B) Matching fitted jacket trimmed with same braid at rounded jewel neckline, along the center front zippered opening, natural-waist hem, the cuffs of the long, set-in sleeves, and the upper edges of the two patch pockets at bust. Lined in orange acetate. Designer's label at left side near zipper: "Oscar de Le Renta" Retailer's label at center back neckline: "Balliets / Oklahoma City, Okla."

Dress in shift style of black silk. Collar of white silk is folded over front neckline giving a modified cowl look. Center back opening with 7 self-covered button and bound buttonholes; closure reinforced with covered snaps. Long set-in sleeves flair slightly to wide, rolled back cuffs of white silk. Hemline trimmed with 2" band of self. Lined in black silk. Designer's label at left of back opening: "Norman Norell / New York" Retailer's label at left of back opening: "Lou Lattimore / Dallas"

Dress of black wool knit. Skirt gathers into waistline seam. Five rhinestone buttons at center front opening below waist and seven above; closure at neckline reinforced with two snaps. Hook and eye at waistline. Long set-in sleeves with five working buttons each. Knee-length. Black satin bow which is attached at the neckline. Clear rhinestone buttons are formed by large center stone surrounded by 10 smaller stones. Side slit pockets. Unlined. Retailer's label at inside neckline: "Balliets / Oklahoma City, Okla." Belt of black satin. Three inches wide with rectangular self covered buckle. Three rectangular machine-made, barred buttonhole style buckle holes. Back of belt stamped: "6 Norman Norell"

A) Dress of off-white/beige cream wool jersey with matching belt. Knee-length or slightly longer. Long sleeves. Slight standing collar which opens at throat. Center front opening with series of 17 functional circular gilt buttons with "dimpled" texture. At throat are two non-functional buttons on the turned-back part of the collar. Buttonholes are bound, with red backgrounds. Large patch pockets at hips. Lined in a beige/cream silk. Designer's label at inside back collar: "Norman-Norell / New York" B) Long sash belt of same fabric, of tubular construction.

Convertible collar with 5" pointed ends and small non-functioning matching button and bound buttonhole at ends. Long sleeves with 3" cuffs and two small matching buttons with bound buttonholes. Two large patch pockets at sides, below waist. Lined in light sage colored silk crepe.
