1000-Mwe SGR. 90% ThOâ‚‚, 10% UOâ‚‚ Alternate Fuel Core Thermal and Hydraulic Analysis
The thermal and hydraulic core parameters were determined using the SORTD I code for 90% ThO/sub 2/, 10% UO/sub 2/ fuel both for (1) a core containing 592 fuel elements corresponding to the UC reference core with a maximum UC temperature of 2000 deg F and (2) a core containing 784 fuel elements corresponding to a UC core with a maximum UC temperature of 1750 deg F. Eighteen rod elements with 2.5 in./sup 2/ and 3.5 in./sup 2/ fuel areas, and 30 rod elements with 4.5 in./sup 2/ and 5.5 in./sup 2/ fuel areas are analyzed for 8 cases. (auth)

14CO2 INCORPORATION INTO THE NUCLEIC ACIDS OF SYNCHRONOUSLYGROWING CHLORELLA CELLS
A study of the incorporation of {sup 14}CO{sub 2} into cell components of synchronously growing Chlorella pyrenoidosa has shown that DNA is synthesized primarily during the latter stages of the cell cycle prior to cell division. RNA was synthesized at an approximately equal rate during each of the three phases of the cell growth studied. No major differences were noted in the incorporation of {sup 14}CO{sub 2} into the soluble cell components in these long-term incorporation studies.

1559/RE: A CODE TO COMPUTE RESONANCE INTEGRALS IN MIXTURES
The computer program 1559/RE is an experimental IBM-704 code in FORTRAN language for computing the resonance integrals of isotopes in mixtures in the presence of hydrogenic moderation. There may be up to four isotopes, each with no more than 75 resolved resonance levels. Doppler broadening and interference scattering are included No estimate is made of contributions from unresolved resonances. Typical running times are 30 min (with no Doppler broadening) to 90 min (with Doppler broadening) for problems involving 67 levels and unit lethargy widths. Input and theory are discussed, and a typical listing is given. (auth)

A 1620 FORTRAN Programme for the Calculation of Bragg Angles for use in Powder X-Ray Diffraction Investigations
An IBM 1620 program is described that calculates the Bragg angles for cubic, hexagonal, and tetragonal crystal systems for use with powder x-ray diffraction techniques. Allowance is made for absent reflections in the case of face- and body-centered cubic and close-packed hexagonal materials.

A 1620 FORTRAN Programme for the Refinement of Lattice Parameters by a Modified Least Squares Method
An I.B.M. 1620 programme is described which calculates refined lattice parameters from X-ray diffraction data according to Hess' Method. The programme may be used for cubic, hexagonal, and tetragonal systems and three systematic error functions are included. The output includes the refined parameters their stand errors, and the misfit of the data at each experimental point.
