Burn Recovery Area
Photograph of increased growth of switchgrass compared to earlier photos. This area was burned in August 1963. Switchgrass which spreads by rhyzomes was less damaged than bunch type grasses.

This type of spreader is commercially available and easy to operate. Turning the crank and walking at a normal pace will accurately cover a 6-foot swath. The spreader is especially recommended for the use of Benzabor weed killer in the treatment of small areas less than ½ of an acre. Rate 1 to 1 ½ pounds per square rod. OK-1094-11.

Jim Meggs (left) of the Taylor-Evans Company, and Jim Gassoway, of the U.S. Borax Company, discuss the effective use of Benzabor fertilizer, a granular formulation of TBA (trichlorobenzoic acid) for the treatment of bindweed. Rates of 15 to 20 pounds of active ingredients per acre; non-inflammable; non-corrosive and non-poisonous when used as instructed. Benzabor is a soil sterilant that will keep land out of production from on to years. OK-1094-12.

Range Fire Recovery
Photograph of buffalo grazing on area athat burned in March 11, 1967 east of highway north of Cache gate. This fire was of incendiary origin. Quanah-Elk Mountain pasture. Animals tend to concentrate grazing on areas that have been burned.
