Fire Damage Recovery Mt. Scott Pasture

Photograph of area damaged by fire in early August 1963 east of Meers gate in Mt. Scott pasture. 2,700 acres were burned. There is still evidence of accelerated erosion. The area is grazed. Little bluestem and tall dropseen are the main grasses.

Graham Flat Pasture

Hilly Stony Savannah on Mt. Pinchot

Photograph of Hilly Stony Savannah on southwest slope of Mt. Pinchot Mountain Escarpment at top is the highest point n the Wichita Mountains. This is thought to be the only area of natural cedar on the refuge. Small open areas are typical of this range site.

Range Fire Recovery
