The flood pool (10 ft. deep) discharges through an 18" pipe, at an average rate of 29 c.f.c.

Mill Creek Bottom Land Alfalfa

This alfalfa is approximately 1 foot high and ready for cutting. You can see the scour channels in alfalfa, evidence of frequent overflow and damage in the past.

Photograph of 1600' long dam. It has a maximum height of 39' and contains 104,500 cu. yards. It is one of 24 planned reservoirs for the Mill Creek system. In addition to reducing the floods on the main stem of Mill Creek it gives 100% protection to the alfalfa field shown in Okla. -9863C.

Flood waters and sediment from the badly gullied area is brought in the pond (#113) by the floodwater diversion from the left. Here the sediment is trapped in the pond and the clear water is drawn off the top 3 ft. (of the pond) through a 15" drop inlet type of metal pipe. Additional work above the diversion was done by enthusiastic farmers. Property line (trees) runs through pond."
