Onionskin paper carbon copy of letter sent in response to Sheriff T. W. "Buckshot" Lane, assuring him of John J. Herrera's support for Culp Krueger for State Senate. Herrera goes on to say that he feels Krueger is "missing the boat" with Texas Latinos by not helping their mutual friend Abel Cisneros, going on at length about Cisneros's virtues and the unfairness of his situation.

Onionskin paper carbon copy of letter to Ed Idar Jr. from John J. Herrera dated December 21, 1955 addressing the political issues with the American GI Forum poll tax drive in the Valley, Texas. "I don't see anything wrong in the efforts of the American Gi Forum conducting this type of civic drive in the Valley. I think it should have been done long ago." Herrera writes that the Latin American people of Mexican descent should all be able to vote and pay the poll tax in preservation and contribution to the "American way of life."
