A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Elia J. Hobbs, Garland, N. C., February 24, 1954. Hobbs explains who C. W. Presswood is, what he has asked and advises that she has included a "copy" of part of the letter from C. W. Presswood. Presswood requests to lease her place for five years describing the work needed to "get it fixed up where you could use it for some good" then states that he would like to buy the place. Hobbs resumes her correspondence to Carswell explaining what she thinks about the proposition.

Jordan compliments Carswell by saying he "surely enjoyed - and endorsed, every word" of the letter written by Carswell which appeared in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram about this "political-hypocrite", Ralph Yarborough.

Letter to the Editor written by Carswell in which he denounces a front page editorial that appeared in the paper as "unworthy of a paper of the past reputation and standing of the Abilene Reporter". Carswell rejects the writer's appeal to the people of Abilene to "support Lyndon Johnson, and repudiate Governor Shivers, upon the grounds that the Senior Senator from Texas has done and can do more for the Abilene pocketbook—who promises the most in the way of material benefits" expressing his disbelief that the people of Abilene will "barter the high privileges and obligations of their citizenship for a mess of potage".

Carswell advises regarding tax forms and instructs Subject OP 95040 regarding the completion of his 1955 Tax Return, noting a 60 day extention to file and the receipt of the form from Caldwell Electric Company. Handwritten at the bottom of the page is a postscript from Subject OP 95040 to Carswell requesting that Carswell "go ahead with" the other tax returns as well. The reverse side includes a handwritten letter to Mr. Carswell--Mr. T. N. Carswell, City [Abilene, Texas] from parolee, City [Abilene, Texas] dated May 28, 1956. Subject expresses his appreciation to Carswell for his help with the tax returns advising of forms that he has completed with instructions regarding the receipt of any refund.

Sandefer advises Carswell of two enclosed tickets, recounts the events of a trip to Pittsburg for an Oklahoma football game and confides of their pride for Jakie. "We flew to Pittsburg in a private plane with a group of Oklahoma and Pittsburg Exes and certainly enjoyed the game—We were most proud of Jakie."

The program is "Showplace of the Nation" for the week beginning Thursday, April 24, 1958. Four shows are listed: Music Hall Grand Organ; Music Hall Symphony Orchestra; "Espana"; "Marjorie Morningstar" starring Gene Kelly and Natalie Wood. The back page of the program includes advertising: Announing . . . No Time For Sergeants. Andy Griffith "Starring in the stage roll that rocketed him to fame!" Magazine slick. Handwritten inside the program is correspondence to Tommy [T. N. Carswell] from Sarah Anna. Crane reminisces regarding her father liking "this sort of show". Crane expresses her appreciation to Carswell for the update agreeing with Carswell regarding having fond memories of Hardin-Simmons and requests that if he sees Grace or Grady Andrews to please remember her to them.

Carswell expresses his hope that Mahon can join Mr. Burleson "in getting these measures passed in the strongest possible form" advising of his views on the labor bill as expressed on an enclosed ballot that was published in the Reporter. He advises that they cut or eliminate foreign aid, that he supports the bill sponsored by Representative Smith of Virginia which curbs the power of the Supreme Court when dealing with strictly state matters.

Carswell informs Blitch that he is a native of Homerville, Georgia, her district, thus he is writing to enlist her support of the new Labor Bill, the bill sponsored by Representative Smith of Virginia restricting the Supreme Court when dealing with strictly state matters and to discontinue or drastically reduce Foreign Aid. He informs of their family connection by the fact that her husband's maternal grandmother was his mother's sister.
