Toungate replies to an investigation request dated September 3, 1954 and affirms the willingness of the State of Texas to accept a subject for supervision advising that the placement of subject will be in Abilene, Texas. Toungate requests that they instruct the subject to report to T. N. Carswell.

Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County (Texas), Parole Board, dated September 22, 1952. Carswell advises Gordon that a review of monthly reports shows an excellent record for Subject A-9803.

The wife of the subject advises Carswell that this letter is in regards to the clemency case for her husband to be brought before the Board in June. She advises of her husband's plans to accept a job with Larghterdale and Strawn in Taylor County and requests that Carswell accept him as a parolee. She advises that her husband was interviewed by Rev. George Beto who made a recommendation to the Board for clemency and requests that Carswell write to the Board and send to her a copy of his letter.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Truett Latimer, Texas House of Representatives, Austin, dated February 22, 1957. Latimer expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell regarding the Pool bill and Senate Bill 154 and for the confidence and support Carswell has given to him during the years he has been a member of the Legislature.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Price Daniel, United States Senate, dated July 22, 1953. Daniel expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell dated July 16, 1953 in support of the request of the Postmaster General to increase postage rates in order to lower the deficit of the Post Office Department and advises that he will keep Carswell's view in mind in his work on the Senate Post Office and Civil Service Committee.

Subject 108,345 asks after Carswell then describes the hot weather, that he is not much of a cotton picker but that he is improving every day and that he hopes to get on construction after cotton picking. He advises Carswell of a job opportunity that he received from his cousin in Austin. The envelope into which the letter was placed is also included in the record.

A letter written to a parolee in Abilene, Texas from Jack Ross, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Sarah Landes, Supervisor, Parole Division), Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, dated September 22, 1955. Landes advises Subject 130,969 that the progress report, sent in by Mr. Carswell, was not satisfactory in regards to reporting late and leaving the County without permission. Landes acknowledges having received from Mr. Carswell the petition for a transfer from Taylor to Palo Pinto County noting an investigation will be made followed by an advisement of the Board's decision.
