Blackburn advises Carswell of the decision made in the April 1955 meeting of the Board which determined that Subject No. 108,345 should spend the remainder of his time in the penitentiary.

A letter written to California Governor Earl Warren, Sacramento 14, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County (Texas) Parole Board dated August 7, 1953. Carswell advises Warren of a long delay in action on the recommendation for Executive Clemency for Subject Fol. 17095. He offers to provide any information that may be lacking regarding the records of Subject advising that his interest in Subject arises solely from the relationship of Parolee and Parole Officer. Carswell closes with the suggestion that Warren might have met Governor Shivers at the Seattle Governor's Conference advising that "to get the full measure of the man, you have but to recall what happened in Texas last year―it largely was his wise and determined leadership that brought us victory".

Subject 17671 [108,345] describes the unusual weather, the delay of his transfer and his receipt of a letter from Mr. Gordon Jaeck, Chairman of the Minnesota Parole Board. Subject confirms his understanding that Jaeck has no control over parole in Texas but was pleased that Jaeck "would if he could." Subject states that his main goal now is getting out of prison.

Carswell advises that he enclosed two Texas-Oklahoma [football game] tickets that Jake [Jake Sandefer] had passed on to him and advises that they use them or sell them if he is unable to be there. He advises that they purchase musical tickets for the night of the 12th, go to the Fair on Saturday morning and assures them that he is only having Hay Fever.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated May 7, 1959. Burleson defends his actions regarding the Kennedy Labor Bill and his advises of his intentions to vote for the McClellan amendments but notes that there is a bill pending by Barden of North Carolina [Graham Arthur Barden] which would come near to meeting the present needs.
