Preface: The study was initiated in early 1951 to develop methods of predicting the moisture content of several soils in the vicinity of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

The following report presents the results of various investigations on the study of the durability of concrete exposed to natural weathering. The report is divided into two parts: first, the natural weathering exposure stations and test procedures are analyzed, then follows the analysis of the programs of investigations.

The purpose of the investigation reported herein was to develop data on the suitability of Prepakt concrete for mass concrete dams and for reinforced concrete construction. Prepakt concrete is made by packing the forms with coarse aggregate and then pumping in a cement base intrusion mixture (grout) to fill the voids.

Introduction: Three matters discussed in the main report on the investigation of the suitability of Prepakt concrete for mass and reinforced concrete structures, issued in October 1951, required further study. These matters are (a) the properties of Alfesil, (b) the permeability of Prepakt concrete, and (c) the resistance of Prepakt concrete to natural weathering.

Summary: Enid Dam, a unit in the flood-control plan for the Yazoo River, is a rolled-fill structure about 85 ft high and 8400 ft long, and contains about 5-3/4 million cu yd of fill.

This report reviews the performance of the Lookout Point Dam located on the Middle Fork of the Willamette River in Oregon. "This study is one of a series of similar studies of the foundation and soil mechanics features of earth dams [...] In these studies original design data are reviewed, construction experience is summarized, and performance fo the completed structures is compared with design predictions to provide information for use in the design and construction of future similar projects" (p. 1).
