The purposes of this study were: (1) to determine by grade groups how the boys of Big Spring High School spend their leisure time, (2) to gain information for use in broadening the instruction in physical education and recreation, (3) to have information for possible recommendations for the physical education department and city recreation program.

The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the girls' physical education programs in the junior and senior high schools in the Fort Worth Public Schools and to determine to what extent these programs insure the complete development of the girl, physically, mentally and socially in the two school levels.

The investigator undertook to make a study of the management of a selected number of private summer camps for children in Kerr County, Texas, because of the growing interest in camping and the need for an informed public regarding the possibilities of wholesome recreation for children in summer camps.

The investigator had the following purposes in undertaking the present study: 1. To determine administrative practices for the conduct of Interscholastic League baseball programs. 2. To determine common practices in coaching baseball in Conference A high schools in Texas. 3. To determine the organization of baseball practice periods.

The purposes of this study are (1) to make a comparison of the stipulated, assigned, and acquired duties of the head football coaches of Class AA high schools within a radius of 115 miles of Grand Prairie, Texas; and (2) to make a comparison of the stipulated, assigned, and acquired duties of the assistant football coaches of Class AA high schools within a radius of 115 miles of Grand Prairie, Texas.

The purpose of this study was to make a critical evaluation of the school plant of Union Grove High School in Upshur County, Texas, in regards to health and safety environment.

The purpose of this study is to compile a concise and non-technical report of the Texas statutes and court decisions concerning school injuries.

The investigator undertook a critical study of existing practices in the administration and conduct of the interscholastic track and field program in selected Class B high schools in Texas during the school year of 1948-1949, with recommendations for future development.

The investigator established the following purposes for the study: 1. To analyze the program of activities for boys' physical education in the approved junior high schools of Texas. 2. To make a survey of the equipment and facilities provided cor the boys' physical education programs. 3. To determine the status of the teaching personnel for the boys' physical education programs in regard to qualifications, professional preparation, duties, and experience. 4. To compare the findings of the study with the standards recommended in Bulletin 444.

The investigator undertook to make an analytical study of boys in the sixth and seventh grades in the Trinity Heights Elementary School of Dallas, Texas, who tend to be non-participants in playground activities and, on the basis of the study, to draw implications for the future guidance of such boys in group participation in such activities.

The investigator made a study of the literature pertaining to the areas of health education, physical education and recreation that is available to students and to faculty members in the class B, A, and AA senior high school libraries of Texas during the school year 1949-1950.

The purpose of this study was to make an investigation of the use of motion pictures and film strips in the coaching of athletics in a selected group of high schools in Texas. It was proposed, also, to formulate conclusions as to the practices utilized in connection with these visual aids in the coaching technique and to make recommendations for their use by coaches as outgrowths of the study.

This thesis examines the status of six-man football in Texas high schools.

The problem undertaken in this investigation was that of making an evaluation of the Physical Education Program of Arlington State College with recommendations for future development.

The investigator made a critical study to determine the relationship of the success of football teams from ten class "A" football districts of the University Interscholastic League with the financial status and enrollment from 1946 through 1948.

The investigator had the following purposes in developing the study: 1. To determine the social and personal qualities that should be developed in women major students in the health, physical education, and recreation department of North Texas State College. 2. To organize topics centering around the selected social and personal qualities for presentation in the Teaching Guide of this study. 3. To set up for each topic a suggested teaching plan by outlining contents and suggested activities related to each topic to be used as a guide for physical education teachers in promoting the development of personal and social qualities in the women major students. 4. To construct the Teaching Guide.

Although most schools have bulletin boards, in most cases its educational possibilities and potentialities have not been fully realized by teachers of the health, physical education, and recreation departments. The wealth of facts innate in this program make it a rich field for full realization of values to be derived from the effective use of the bulletin board. Therefore, the writer became interested in setting forth some definite, concise, and practical suggestions in the form of a manual that would serve as a guide in the effective use of the bulletin board.

Because of the lack in the research field, the investigator undertook a comparative study of the administration and conduct of an equitation program in girls' private summer camps of northern and northeastern states and of Texas.

The investigator became interested in the status of basketball goal shooting in modern girls' basketball as compared to that of boys' goal shooting. Types of shots, their frequency and accuracy, and the zones on the court from which they were taken, were all considered as components of the status of basketball goal shooting. It was on the basis of this interest that the present study was undertaken.

The purpose of this study is 1. to determine methods currently used by institutions surveyed by the study to classify men students enrolled in physical education required programs; 2. To evaluate methods in use by institutions surveyed by the study to classify men students enrolled in physical education required programs.

The purposes of this study are: (1) to provide a history of school health programs; (2) to secure from authorities in the field an idea of what constitutes a good school health program; (3) to examine present programs in Texas Public High Schools of 50 to 500 enrollment in order to determine the nature of activities being carried on; (4) to show how programs are organized, administered, and financed; and (5) to point out existing deficiencies and to offer recommendations for improving present programs based upon the most successful and outstanding patterns.

The investigator had the following purposes in undertaking the present study: 1. To determine the accuracy of the Brace Basketball Achievement Test in measuring a girl's real playing ability. 2. To determine to what extent the Brace Basketball Achievement Test can be relied upon to rank the players of a girls Interscholastic League basketball squad. 3. To determine to what extent the Brace Basketball Achievement Test can be relied upon to rank girls basketball squads in an Interscholastic League district. 4. To determine the degree to which the Brace Basketball Test can be relied upon as an aid for the selection of players for a high school girls basketball squad.

The problem of the present investigation may be briefly stated as follows: To make a comparison of the physical development, motor capacities, and strength of the Spanish-American and Anglo-American boys of the El Paso High School, El Paso, Texas.

The purposes of this study may be stated as follows: 1. To analyze the instructional procedures utilized by the coaching staff in the development of the T-wing football formation at the Grand Prairie High School, Grand Prairie, Texas. 2. To gain a better understanding of the functions of the T-wing football formation as it is taught at the Grand Prairie High School. 3. To make recommendations and to propose further developments for the instructional procedures used in coaching the T-wing football formation at the Grand Prairie High School.
