An Evaluation of Achievement Scores and Teacher Ratings of Boys and Girls in the Fourth Grade
The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the total achievement scores and teacher ratings of pupils in three fourth grades in Chico and Decatur elementary schools to determine differences, if any, in the rate of progress between boys and girls and in teacher ratings. A secondary purpose was to make a study of individual differences in achievement and to make a number of case studies of pupils in one school.

Improving Reading in a Third Grade
The purpose of this study is to determine and evaluate a third grade reading program that will increase the individual child's reading ability and will stimulate maximum progress during a period of nine months. It is believed that through the development of this program a larger number of the children in this particular group will be able to make the transition from the primary type of reading to the intermediate level at the end of their third year in school.

Helping Unsociable Second-Grade Children Become More Sociable
The problem of this study is the attainment of social progress by second-grade children. In substance, the problem is "How sociability can be developed in unsociable second-grade children." Since it is generally conceded by modern educators that the most important outcome of education is the child's ability to attack his life problems and to solve them satisfactorily to himself and to the society wherein he lives, this problem is deemed worthy of consideration.

The problem of this study was to make a comparative analysis of the methods and factors employed in grading students in physical education, typing, and English in fifty Class "A" high schools of Texas for the school year of 1949-59. This analysis was of two pars. One phase gave consideration to various methods used in grading pupils. The other considered factors that go to make the whole of student grades and the percentage attached to each factor. The two phases were so interrelated that it was felt that this study would not be complete without the inclusion of both.

On this study much emphasis was placed on selecting, preparing and applying appropriate remedial measures, and to ascertain the character and the amount of improvement in reading. An Exploration of the Possible Use of the Sociometric Test in Studying Residents of Homes for the Aged
It is proposed in this thesis to explore the possible use of the Sociometric test as a measure of the personal social factor in old age. It is further proposed to gather sociometric data by administering a sociometric test to the residents of two homes for aged persons in Dallas County, Texas, and to illustrate by sociograms and tables the uses for which such data might be of value in research designed to investigate the personal social factor in old age.
