This thesis will present a course of study for prospective personnel managers as recommended by practicing personnel executives of selected industries in Dallas, Texas.

It is the purpose of this study to determine what training is needed to qualify an individual for the position of school business manager. This study is made to show what duties are performed by business managers in the public schools of Texas and what training in college will be needed to qualify a college graduate for the position of school business manager.

This investigation is being made in an effort to determine the probable effects on the Southwest of the basing-point changes recently instigated as a result of the Federal Trade Commission rulings.

The problem of this study is to determine some effects of color on personnel in industry. Consideration is given to management-employee relationship, employee's physical and mental health, and the resulting increase of both quality and quantity of production.

The problem is to determine the status of the methods of inventory valuation in Texas Cotton Mills. This study is also conducted to determine how much uniformity, if any, exists in this particular industry.

This is a study of business education conferences in Texas made in an effort to improve business training in Texas secondary schools. Many young people leave high school intending to enter the business world. Business is ready to accept those who are competent. The educational preparation of students, however, is often insufficient to permit their seizing the opportunities offered to them.

The purpose of this study is to attempt establishment of ways by which Amarillo College, as a community junior college, can further extend its benefits to the adults of the community through its commercial curriculum.

It is a broad function of this thesis to provide the commodity world with a new and valuable informational tool. This thesis shows quarterly prices for a ten year period 1940 through 1949, on fifty major commodities, giving in each case the actual cash price and the cash price adjusted to the purchasing power of the 1926 dollar. This adjusted price is a statistically derived relative price and for the purposes of this study is called a constant dollar value.

The investigator made a study of the history, philosophy, method, and operation of centralized purchasing as it now exists for the state-supported institutions in the State of Texas and other selected states (New Hampshire, Montana, Michigan, Nebraska, and Minnesota).

The problem of this study is to compare the retirement benefits under the federal Social Security System, as proposed in House Bill 6000, the retirement benefits under the Texas Teachers Retirement System, and the retirement annuities of private insurance companies. Further, the study will compare the survivors benefits under the proposed Social Security amendment and under the Texas Teacher Retirement System. Last, the study will compare the general nature and principles of the proposed Social Security amendment with those of the Texas Teacher Retirement System.

This thesis will concentrate on a two-fold purpose: first, to determine whether an industrial management program at North Texas State College is justified; and second, to present a broad outline that will form a foundation upon which the content of such a program can be based.

This study is an attempt to evaluate the Business Writing course at North Texas State College and to determine whether the course as it is now presented meets the needs and desires of the students.

This study intends to discover the extent and use of job evaluation in selected business concerns in Dallas, Texas, and through this discovery to derive conclusions which may indicate current trends in the use of job evaluation in this section of the country.

The purpose of the study is threefold: (1) to make a survey of the type of purchasing organizations used by a selected number of oil companies operating in the Southwest, (2) to determine the extent or degree of centralized purchasing used by these firms, and (3) to evaluate briefly the organizational arrangements found in light of accepted principles.

The automobile dealership is one of the more important types of small business. The operation of such a business is an integral part of the economy of the country, and conditions existing in the automobile field are usually fairly representative of those in other types of small business; therefore, the general personnel policies of an automobile dealership are basically similar to personnel policies of other small businesses in the distributive field. A study of personnel policies in this field will be of some use to anyone interested in the problems of small business.

This study is designed to present information on the supervision of business education as revealed through research and personal observations. Included in this study of state supervision of business education are such phases as proposed qualifications and duties of a state supervisor of business education, a brief study of supervisory programs now in effect in other states, the need for a state supervisor in Texas, and a proposed program for supervision of business education in Texas.

The problem with which this study is concerned is that of the selection of those persons in an industrial organization who are most likely to become effective and successful foremen on the production line and of developing these persons into well-rounded, successful industrial foremen. The purpose of this study is to determine some of the major traits and qualifications which a man should possess if he is to become a successful foreman in industry.

This problem was selected in the hope that it might contribute something worthwhile to the administrators, teachers, placement directors, and students of Draughon's Business College, Wichita Falls, Texas.

"The purpose of this study is to find what information is available from secondary sources on retail trade areas and to assemble and analyze it so that the information will be of value to those interested in the economy of the area...the following general conclusions are drawn: 1. The Denton retail trade area is primarily agricultual. Indicators of this fact are so many and so definite that there is little doubt but that agriculture and the rural population of the area will affect, to a considerable extent all business activity. 2. In 1947, the Denton retail trade area was not highly industrialized. The trading center is not centrally located within the state of Texas, but several markets are a few miles away. A good supply of labor is available within the area. With the present trend toward decentralization of industry, these facts point toward an expansion of manufacturing in the trade area. 3. The potential college students of the Odessa area need to know which type of school best suits their personal needs. The area around Odessa offers the highest paid secretarial Jobs in the state, with some 500 oil and oil supply firms employing from one to fifty full-time secretaries, with salaries ranging from $200 to 4325 per month. The opportunities for accountants, bookkeepers and auditors in the Odessa area is unlimited, and they earn from 4350 to $450 per month. The purpose of this survey and study is to attempt the establishment of ways in which the business administration department of Frank Phillips College may help its students to prepare to fill the employment needs in the commercial offices of the area.

The specific purposes of this investigation, therefore, are (1) to determine any general pattern in the development of different phases of personnel programs in different firms; and (2) to make an intensive case study of the development of the personnel program in one organization--Moore Business Forms, Incorporated--which might serve as a guide for similar studies in other firms.
