Coat dress of black silk taffeta with off-white fuzzy woven-in polka dots. Calf-length(? - depends on petticoats), with a small modified "Peter Pan" turn-down collar, which has attached front bias bands to tie into bow at front of collar. 3/4-length set-in sleeves. Center front opening with 16 black circular plastic buttons, hidden snaps at waist and throat, and hook-and-eye at waist. Full, flaring skirt with 13 gores. Unlined. Three large black plastic buttons and loop with small self-covered button at asymmetrical closure. Slightly fitted. Long sleeves with 3-1/2" slits at wrist; 3-3/4" slit at back. Lined in black silk crepe; padded shoulders. Designer's label: "Irene" B) Wrap-around skirt with 2 1/4" waistband; sewn together at left hand side at waistband. Knee length. Wrap style, with long ties which wrap around waist and tie at front. Long sleeves. Inner edges finished with light gray ribbon band. C)Skirt of same fabric as blouse. Street-length skirt gathers into the heavy band at waist. Treated to appear pleated.

Cocktail dress of black silk taffeta with black trim. Low V-neck front and back, elbow length sleeves. Extremely narrow foundation skirt in "Hobble Skirt" style, with pleated overskirt caught up underneath. The front is decorated with cord decoration, the back is plain. No label found, attrib from Donor's description.

Dark red silk faille afternoon dress, princess lines - fuller in back. Natural waist line. Fly front zipper opening but covered at waist with intricately cut huge self bow that fastens at side creating the look of a wrap front closure. V-neck, small collar, 3/4 sleeves. Designer's label sewn in bodice: "Hattie Carnegie"; retailer's label sewn in skirt: "Swanson / Inc / Kansas City".
