Dilworth acknowledges his receipt of letter and membership progress report from Carswell, comments on the good numbers regarding the membership growth of the Legion then compliments Carswell and the other Legionnaires of that Division as doing a "swell" job.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Andrew Dilworth, San Antonio 5, Texas, dated June 20, 1946. Dilworth requests that Carswell support Jimmie Caviness for National Executive Committeeman and advises that the name of James M. Caviness was "presented" to and received an ovation from the convention. He briefly summarizes the life and qualifications of Caviness beginning with the following; "Jimmie Caviness is a veteran of both World War I and World War II. In the last war he served as a Colonel in the 36th Division, and he was a casualty of that war. He lost his only son in World War II."

Dilworth requests that Carswell write to several of the Departments for information explaining in what form the Departments have contributed to the campaign expenses of their candidates.

He advises that Carswell rendered the Legionnaires of Texas a great service with his fight on the floor before the convention by bringing out what might happen if the publication of the proceedings were quashed.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Andrew Dilworth, Law Offices, San Antonio 5, Texas, dated November 25, 1944. Dilworth discusses the question of whether the appropriation for Danforth's campaign is a legitimate expense such as may be authorized by action of the Department Executive Committee. He advises that Carswell is rendering the Legionnaires a real service by bringing the matter to their attention. Dilworth confirms that this issue is turning out as both he and Carswell prophesied. Dilworth compares this appropriation of funds stating, "Any one who would introduce a measure in the legislature of Texas to appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of electing Coke Stevenson President of the United States would so shock the public conscience that he would be adjudged a lunatic. Yet that is exactly what the Department Executive Committee of the Texas Department is doing."

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, from L. P. Miller, Captain, A. G. D., Asst. Adjutant General, Headquarters Eighth Corps Area, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, dated January 3, 1941. Miller makes reference to the telegram sent by Carswell recommending Mrs. E. Lillius for army hostess at the Abilene Camp and advises that she will receive careful consideration when selections are made.

A letter written to Commander Thos. N. Carswell, Commander, Fifth Division, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Henry B. Wiener, San Antonio, Texas, dated December 3, 1942. Wiener provides an update regarding the logistics of the National Americanism Program, the American Legion Oratorical Contest, the American Legion sponsored War Bond and stamp sales. He requests the full co-operation of Carswell's division then makes a request of Carswell to appoint some "live wire" member of his Division to assist in the program. "Praise the Lord and Keep the American Legion Membership Growing"..

A letter written to Mr. Thos. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Herman G. Nami, Third Division Commander, The American Legion, San Antonio, Texas, dated June 13, 1944. Nami advises that he looks forward to seeing Carswell at the Fifth Division Convention in Odessa adding that he is counting on Carswell's support for his candidacy.

A letter written to Commander T. N. Carswell, The American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from J. J. McConnell, District Commander, The American Legion, San Antonio, Texas. McConnell offers his regrets to Carswell regarding not being able to attend the Army Day Dedication. He confirms the guest of honor is to be Mrs. Antonio Barkeley, mother of David Barkeley, after whom Camp Barkeley has been named, and Major B. L. Hyer offers his regrets regarding the invitation from Carswell to attend the dedication of the Parramore Post building stating, "You do not know how disappointed I am that I will not be able to be with you".

A letter addressed to The Mayor of the City of Abilene, Abilene, Texas, from B. L. Maloney, Major U.S.A.R., Fort Sam Houston, Texas, dated April 2, 1941. Maloney advises of the proposed visit, planned escort, program and travel accomodations of Mrs. Antonio Barkely, mother of David B. Barkely for whom Camp Barkely has been named and requests confirmation of the approval of this plan before any further steps are taken to make this trip.

A letter written to Brigadier General Richard Donovan, Commander 8th Corp Area, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Major, 10th Battalion, Texas Defense Guard, dated February 7, 1941. Carswell requests to receive copies of : "Infantry Drill Regulations F.M. 22-5". Carswell informs Donovan that Congressman Russell had advised Carswell that the War Department had refered Russell and Carswell to him.
