This study is a comparative study of the transportation set-ups in the schools of District 5, Texas and attempted to determine the relationships various factors to pupil transportation cost. In light of the findings of the study, the writer made recommendations that would serve District 5 (i.e. Cooke, Grayson, Wise, Denton, and Collin counties).

The purpose of this study is to make a survey of the thirteen accredited high schools in Hill County to determine some of the factors associated with high school transfers in Hill County, and their results.

In the main there are three questions to be answered in this investigation: First, what are the motives that have controlled the growth and development of the junior colleges in Texas? Second, what are the leading events in this development? Third, what is the present state of development of the junior college movement in Texas? This study contains four chapters. The first chapter is concluded with facts about the cost of placements made through the Placement Office, and the demands made by schools upon the Placement Office, as indicated by the calls received in the Office for teachers. "The purpose of this study is to show how the educational opportunities of the children of Foard County can be improved...The educational data pertaining to the present organization of the schools of Foard County were obtained in the following manner: (1) by making a careful study of the enumeration, the enrollment, the average daily attendance, the size of the schools according to the number of grades taught, the grade distribution of the pupils, the enrollment of the pupils, the length of the school term, and the annual cost per per pupil. (2) By making a study of the teacher personnel of Foard County and of the number of teachers employed according to average attendance. This study attempted to compare the activities in the boys' program, "in school" and "out of school" which seemed to have the greatest appeal from the standpoint of participation.

This study is made to determine the educational inequalities that exist in the schools of Wheeler County and to set up a plan that will help to equalize the educational opportunities for all the children in the county, on a basis well within its financial ability. The study consists of three phases of the problem of equalizing educational opportunities in the schools of Wheeler County. The first will consist of a study of the educational conditions of the schools, based upon the general population trends, scholastic trends, the per pupil load of each elementary classroom, the subject-pupil load of each high school teacher, and the qualification of the teachers according to college work. The second will consist of a financial survey of the schools based upon assessed valuations, tax rates, cost per scholastic, and outstanding bonded indebtedness. The third will be the formulating of a plan for the equalization of educational opportunities based upon the findings of the educational and financial surveys.

This study attempted to determine the extent to which libraries in the small affiliated high schools of Navarro County, Texas, are taking care of students' reading interests. This study is made with the purpose of adding teachers and librarians in the selection of reading materials for recreational and class use.

This study was made of the school districts in the East Texas oil field in Rusk and Gregg Counties. These school districts have a dense rural population, the majority of whom are engaged in some type of oil field work. Financially, these school districts are considered the wealthiest in the state, and in general are similar to most oil field sections in the South. A total of twelve different transportation systems, operating sixty-five buses, transporting 8,758 school children were studied. In this study, efficient methods of transporting school children, methods of administering transportation, contracting, types of roads, qualifications of drivers, equipment, and cost in these oil field districts were considered.

This study undertook to present and evaluate the ways in which the social needs of the first-grade child are being met by teachers in North Texas. Based on the data presented in the study, eleven definite conclusions have been drawn.

The purpose of this study was to correlate the Vegetation of the Woodbine Sands with the edaphic factors. In the laboratory an analysis of the edephic factors was made of the twenty-two soil types collected from the three formations. The results of these and other analysis are shown in tables and graphs. The results indicate that the vegetational cover of an area that is uniform in its origin and in its resident soil factors is determined by the edaphic factors present.

In this study, the writer has attempted to judge the effects of different types of report cards upon the accuracy of the teachers' grades of South Park Elementary School. The data used in this study, is located in Beaumont, Texas.

This study was undertaken as an investigation to find out the socio-economic status of the Freshman class of North Texas State Teachers college, Denton, Texas. The investigation has the following purposes: to find out the number of independent, partially dependent, and dependent students; to discover social and economic factors concerning their home background the year preceding their entrance to the college; to study the economic status of these groups for the school year 1936-37; to study the social status of the same groups, on the campus, for the same period of time; to study the scholastic status of the same students during the same period, and to compare the grades of each group to discover the effect, if any, of social and economic status upon scholastic attainment.
