The three pages of this invitation and program are tied into a folded cover of linen paper. The front cover has intertwined raised initials, S, H, N, I (for Sam Houston Normal Institute), and above them is printed an image in red and blue ink of a Texas flag with the initials S.H.N.I. flying from the top of the flag pole. The first page within the cover is the printed invitation to the Joint Session of the Literary Societies of the Sam Houston Normal Institute, held in Memorial Hall, Huntsville, Texas, May 26, 1900. In the top left corner of the invitation page is a lithographic image by C. A. Wright, Philadelphia, that depicts a variety of scholarly and literary objects arranged on a cloth-covered table. The second page consists of the program for the event. The third page lists the names of nine literary societies: Lone Star, Athena, Baldwin, Houstonian, Philomathean, Eclectic, House, Ross, and Senate. Handwritten in ink on the back of the cover are the words "Mom's graduation program Mary McAlister McCutchan," probably written at a later date by her daughter-in-law Johnnie McCutchan.

Photograph album of the Marion Sims McCutchan, Sr. family, missing its cover. The photos are pasted on the gray paper pages. Photographs include interior and exterior shots of the family home at 2105 Rosborough Springs Road, Marshall, Texas, and the barn. Most of the photos show the three sons of the family, Robert Lewis McCutchan, born 1903, Marion Sims McCutchan, Jr., born 1905, and Kenneth Shannon McCutchan, born 1912, but a few photos also include their parents Sims, Sr. and Mary.

Color tinted halftone postcard of the First Presbyterian Church, located at 310 N. Fulton St., in Marshall, Texas, photographed around 1907. The main building was constructed in 1884 in an English Arts and Crafts parish church style. The main gable-roofed structure has a picturesque tower entrance porch projecting on the right. Decorative shingles can be seen on the mid-level of the entrance tower and in the ends of the gables, and turned wood elements decorate the entrance porch. Bushes and trees surround the building. Printed on the upper right part of the image is the titles, "1136 First Presbyterian Church, Marshall, Tex." Printed on the right edge of the image: "Published by Mathewson Drug Co., Marshall, Tex." Printed on the back in the lower left corner is the Curt Teich Co. logo with the letters "C" and "T" intertwined , "Co." in the opening of the "C", and "Chicago" below. There is a postmark dated July 18, 1908. The card was addressed to Miss Nelle Lymes in Waco, Texas, and forwarded to her in Asheville, North Carolina.

The courthouse was designed by architects J. Riely Gordon and Cornelius Grandbery Lancaster in 1899 and completed in 1901. Printed along the left edge of the message space: "Published by Novelty Post Card Co., Kansas City, Mo."

Color tinted halftone postcard of the Ginocchio Hotel, Marshall, Texas, 705 N. Washington Ave. The view is from the northeast, showing the north side of the building and part of the east side. Corbelled bricks mark the top of the second floor. Square towers mark the corners of the building A shed roof supported by poles covers the sidewalk on the north and east sides of the building, and windows and doors are visible beneath it. There are several brick chimneys. The two-story brick, gable-roof building was designed by architect C. G. Lancaster in 1896. It was built as a railroad hotel, close to the railroad depot. Printed on the top of the image is the title, "Hotel Ginocchio, Marshall, Texas." There is no postmark or message on the back of the card.

Color tinted halftone postcard of ca. 1907-1915 showing the Hotel Marshall, Marshall, Texas. It is a straight facade view with parts of the neighboring buildings visible. The hotel's three-story building has a sidewalk canopy across the full facade with multipaned clerestory windows above the canopy. A fire escape on the second bay from the right leads from the third story to the canopy and has a ladder from the third story to the roof. Two boys stand leaning on either side of a five-globe street light on the sidewalk in front of the building. A horse and buggy stand on the street to their right, and two men with straw hats sit next to the right side of the building. The horse is hitched to a ring in the sidewalk. Printed in black ink on the lower left border below the image is the title "Hotel Marshall, Marshall, Texas." There is no postmark or message on the back. The code A-68238 is printed on the back at the top left of the address section. Printed between the message and address sections: "C. T. American Art" and the logo of an intertwined C and T Co, Chicago in a circle.

The view shows an octagonal floor display case in the foreground and display case counters along both sides with shelves behind them. There appears to be a narrow balcony at a mezzanine level at the back. Garlands of large paper flowers decorate the sides of the room and the central hanging light fixtures. The stock is arranged in an ornamental decorative manner and includes a large cylindrical jar or container of canes on the left front. Faint pink coloring highlights the contents of the central octagonal case. Printed at the bottom in black ink below the image is the title "Interior of Jenkins Crystal Palace Drug Store, Marshall, Texas. The postmark on the back does not include a year. The card is addressed to Mrs. Bettie B. Murzbacher, Dallas, Texas.

Photograph of the Marshall, Texas post office employees posed on the front steps of the post office. Of the seventeen men, five are seated on the steps and twelve are standing. Some are wearing suits and jackets, others in white shirts and ties. Two have mail delivery bags over their shoulders and one bag is resting on the pavement. Cast iron storefront columns are visible in the background as well as the framework supporting the sidewalk awning. Handwritten at the bottom of the photograph is the the caption: "Pop", Sims McCutchan, Sr. Marshall Post Office Employers [sic] 19. Mr. McCutchan is identified in the photograph by the word "Pop" written above his head and an arrow pointing to him. Edges of the mount board have been broken off.

Postcard of the Confederate Monument in Marshall, Texas. Part of the Harrison County Courthouse is visible in the background to the left. A commercial building is visible across the street from the courthouse. The statue was designed by Frank Teich, carved in Italy, and dedicated in Marshall Jan. 19, 1906. The card was postmarked Sept. 6, 1907, Marshall, Texas, and addressed to Miss Irene Ferrell in Marion, Ill. Part of the message is continued on the image side of the card. Printed at the bottom of the image: "Manufactured by Curt Teich & Co., Chicago, ILL."

Photograph of the officers of the Marshall, Texas Knights of Pythias, Eureka No. 2 taken by Parker-Corti. It was taken inside the lodge building. Seven men are seated and four are standing behind them. Five of those seated are wearing robes and regalia, and the others are wearing suits and ties. The windows in the lodge room have dark wood Venetian blinds. Painted on an arched window without blinds, above the central window, are the words "Eureka Lodge No. 2, K. of P." (The letters are backward to be read from the exterior of the building.) The man in the center is seated on a large, throne-like, high-backed chair. Two decorative armorial shields are mounted on either side of the central window. The man on the far left is holding a sword over his shoulder. On the lower right is printed "Photo by Parker-Corti, Marshall, Tx. "

Washington, Ave. The buildings on either side of this building have been artifically removed from the image and the building is surrounded by a uniform blue color, with pale orange adjacent to the first floor level. A man stands in the doorway of the commercial space on the first floor and a selection of rocking chairs and straight chairs have been placed on the front edge of the sidewalk. To the left of the shopfront is the narrow entrance door to the stairs leading to the Elks lodge rooms. A decorative grating with the word "Elks" in the center is above the door. The striped awning on the first floor is retracted. There is a recessed bay window on the second level above the shopfront, and on the third level a semicircular recess, or exedra. Printed on the top of the image is the title "Elks Building, Marshall, Texas." There is no postmark or message on the back.

Printed in the lower left corner of the back is the CT Chicago symbol of the Curt Teich Co. The card was addressed to Miss N. Brown, San Antonio, Tex.

Handwritten in ink on the lower right of the mount board are "Pop, K. P.," indicating that one of the men was Marion Sims McCutchan, Sr.

Printed on the back to the left of the message section: "78.-17. I P C & N Co. Illustrated Postal Card Co. New York. Made in Germany." There is a postmark on the back, but the year is incomplete. …
