Photograph of Fealon Vaun Christian and John Prude standing outside of the Prude and Hood General Store. This store was between Mansfield and Logansport, Louisiana. It had everything from lace to snuff tp licorice. It had a huge bar inside, and the store served people from miles around. A cotton gin was to the west side of the store (back and left) where everyone brought their cotton to be ginned. The stor had advertising signs across the front. This photo was included in a research paper by Mike Shurley for an American History class at Marfa High School in 1968.

In this photograph, 10 men dressed in casual clothing are sitting or kneeling in a semi-circle while they eat. Plates, utensils and guns are visible in front of them. At least two other men are standing behind the others, near the group of 5 or 6 horses which all appear to be saddled. All of the men are wearing hats. To the right of the photo there is some sort of wagon or buggy behind the seated men; it is at least partially enclosed and has large wheels and a board attached to the back. The ground appears to be covered with short scrub.

Richard C. Daly's account to Harry Warren, Deputy Collector of Customs, on January 15, 1907, at Presidio, Texas. Daly arrived in Presidio, Texas, in 1866, after a long stint in the U.S. Army (fought in the Civil War). Daly gives a description of the men, and their wives and children, living in the town during that time.

It describes the resources and features of the various areas and counties of Texas such as: the Pan-Handle, Amarillo-Tucumcari Extension, the Western Tip of Texas, Wilbarger and Hardeman Counties, North Texas, Montague County, Wise County, Jack and Young Counties, Grayson County, Lamar County, Dallas and Fort Worth, Swedish Settlements, Trinity and Brazos Valleys, Leon Prairie, Galveston and Houston, the Coastal Plain, Liberty County, Jefferson County, Beaumont, Orange County and Newton County. Includes a map of Texas.
