This is a document from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is a memo from Geo P. Bemis to J. A. Frye discusiing the real estate paper of Lot 10, block one,Madison Square. The documentation that accompanied the memo to Frye included: A Warranty deed from Florence Company to Elizabeth Tuttle, mortgage papers from Elizabeth Tuttle and Peter M. Tuttle to the Conservative S. & L. Association, tax judgement sale receipts from county treasurer in the amount of $11.50, and a receipt from the Conservative S. & L. Association for $900.00 which was dated April 9, 1906. Bemis states that the documentation merits the mortgage cancelled and marked paid.

The report includes an endorsement from the War Department on the proposed legislation.

It is signed by Charles Hendricks, Secretary of the Ninth Civil Service District. He has scores for spelling, arithmetic, letter-writing, penmanship, and copying from plain copy. A large piece of the paper has been torn away. There is an envelope addressed to Claude D. White at 3227 Pratt St. in Omaha, Nebraska. The return address is for the United States Civil Service Commission, Ninth U.S. Civil Service District, Old Custom House, St. Louis, Missouri. It is postmarked St. Louis, December 16, 1908, and there are handwritten notes in pencil on the back.

In the document, Alice details that she has received Mary's letter and will write a better response soon. She also mentions that her and her family are doing better and that their gardens are growing nicely. She mentions that the weather has been exceptional with good rain, but notes that the winds are unusually strong. The front of the postcard is a photograph of the Presbyterian church in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Letter from Birdie McKinley to Mary Moore, Claude and Linnet White. She doesn't think they received her last letter. She comments that they have had so much rain and all of the vegetables they have had. Mattie's beau died. She mentions everyone's health and how fast Henry and Lillian are growing. She talks about her chickens. She asks if they plan to come visit in the summer, because she really wants to see them. She comments on the weather and asks if they think about moving to St. Louis. She liked their pictures and asks about Claude's father. She asks for a long letter.

Letter from J. W. Berry to Claude White in which he describes the drought and its impact on the crops. He also writes about the work he has put in to the farm and says that he would like to stay there for four or five years.
