Sunday she had visitors and Mr. Love want her to stay all night, but she thinks he drinks. She got an apron and two handkerchiefs for her birthday. She asks what Linnet is doing, since she doesn't write, and if she is tired of cooking. She says that good money can be made there because items are sold by the pound. She asks how her friends are. She is going to see Mrs. Ellis who is not doing well. Nicy Blackamare married a Mr. Hassell. She comments on John Brown, Henry A. Wise, Mrs. Nation and prohibition.

This is a letter from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is written by Elizabeth "Bettie" Franklin and is addressed to the Moore family. In the letter, Franklin informs the Moore family that Matilda Dodd has passed way from pneumonia. She discusses the time period right before Dodd passed and describes how the family worked very hard to keep her well with visits from the Doctor and with medicine. The family realized she would not get well and all they could do was keep her comfortable tile she passed. Franklin details how the family and how friends have all helped out during this trying time. This is a fragment of the letter.

In this letter, Thornhill informs her kin on the going-on in Goodlettsville, TN. The news includes: a discussion about her correspondences, an apology for not writing a quick reply to Moore and White, a discussion about the grippe outbreak and news about those who are sick with pneumonia, a dialogue about Bailey Love's death, a dialogue about the mud and how it makes the agricultural work much harder, news about her weaving project, a discussion about traveling to see family in Nashville, and updates on the prices of meat and an aside on the production of eggs this winter. She closes the letter by sending love and well-wishes to all.

Letter to Will Stith discussing an ordinance delivered to Morgan Jones by the city of Abilene. This gives authority to the railway company to construct tracks and switches throughout Abilene. Terms and conditions of the agreement are explained and the writer explains that if Jones wishes the ordinance to be amended, he should prepare the amendment and deliver it to Stith.

Letter to E. P. Ripley discussing errors made Ripley made in a previous letter regarding railroad routes and towns. The writer discusses his efforts to prevent a railroad being constructed through Abilene and contracts that were circulating among the attorneys. The writer reminds Ripley of previous statements he made about waiting to build the railroad. The writer uses his own grocery store as an example of businesses to be protected in Abilene.

Letter to E. P. Ripley pointing out discrepancies in his speech about building towns around his railroads instead of building railroads in established towns. The writer describes the work put in to secure rights of way through Abilene for Ripley's railroad construction. The writer reminds Ripley of a promise made by his chief engineer to begin immediate construction if sufficient funds were obtained. However, the writer states that Ripley's company instead began negotiations to build in Brownwood. The writer does not feel as though the people of Abilene have received the treatment they were promised by Ripley and his company.
