[Joshua Calhoun Howell Remembrance Card]

Remembrance card for Joshua Calhoun Howell of Hill County, Texas. It reads: "In Loving Remembrance of J. C. Howell, Died Jan. 5, 1901. Gone but not forgotten. 'Tis hard to break the tender cord,/When love has bound the heart./'Tis hard, so hard, to speak the words:/"We must forever part."/Dearest loved one we must lay thee/In the peaceful grave's embrace,/But thy memory will be cherished/'Til we see thy heavenly face." Below the inscription is an illustration of the Bible.

[John B. Denton Funeral Notice]

Funeral notice for John B. Denton, who was killed by Indians on May 22, 1841. The interment was held at the Denton Courthouse on November 21, 1901. According to an article in the Denton Record-Chronicle, "the custom was to place such notices in all public places to invite people to the funeral. This notice was given to the Denton Public Library by Mrs. R.M. Mitchell and was included in one of three scrapbooks that she made for the library."

This document is from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is a personal statement by C. B. Moore which was written when Moore was 79 years old. He is noting that his age has surpassed the age of his father's and grandfather's death. Moore states that he does not expect to live much longer and details that he has his will and estate in place, but would like to emphasize that his wife and daughter receive his estate in his passing. He furthers that his daughter will receive more land, some money, and a filly named Trixy. Also, he states that he has full confidence in his wife's financial ability. The statement is dated September 30, 1901.

[Last will and testament of Charles B. Moore, September 30, 1901]

Last will and testament by Charles B. Moore in which he says that he previously made out a will and left it with Mr. J. M. Pearson. He states that he had previously given Linnet 100 acres. She sold 25 to raise funds to build a house. The land is now rented out. He now wishes to give her another 450 acres, $300.00, and a filly named Trixy. He leaves the rest of the estate to his wife Mary Ann Moore. He says that Birdie McGee currently lives with them and he leaves it up to "Mary's liberality" to her continuing to do so. He wishes to be buried with his family "without religious ceremonies."

[Telegram from E. E. King to Claude D. White, October 24, 1901]

This is a document from the Charles B. Moore Collection. It is a telegram to Claude D. White from Eustace E> King. In the telegram, King informs White that he has received the check from White and thanks him for the money. He also notes that he has ordered marriage certificates and will send Linnet the prettiest one when they arrive. He closes the message by sending love and best wishes to them both. King's name card which details the schedule of services, his church's name, and four bible verses is included with the telegram. The envelope the telegram and the card was sent in is included.
