He thanks her for a box she sent him at Christmas, and admits that Italy is better than Africa, and there are more things to take pictures of in Italy than in Africa, but he still wants to go home. He's heard that Margaret Ann is dating a soldier, and predicts that they will get married.

He has gone to see Wilbur Crawford for the past few days, and the two of them have planned a camping and fishing trip to take place when the war is over. Willis asks where his cousin Jimmie Kendrick is stationed.

He says he bought a war bond and sent it home, and that he's going to visit Wilbur Crawford in the hospital soon. He got a lighter, a box of pecans, and the film sent from home. He asks after his parents' broken ice box, and says it might be hard to get a new one.

He informs them that Wilbur Crawford, whose leg was injured, had the bandages taken off and just needs exercise to recover. He plans to have his picture taken and send them to his parents. He's had letters from a friend at A&M and Margaret Willis from Abilene.

Letter from John Todd Willis, Jr. to his parents Clara and John T. Willis, Sr. on February 29, 1944. He sends reassurances to Wilbur Crawford's mother that he's fine, and tells his parents not to worry about him, since he's not at the front lines.

Letter from John Todd Willis, Jr. to his parents Clara and John T. Willis, Sr. on February 22, 1944. He had a letter from the mother of a friend who was in the Pacific, and whose other sons might be drafted soon. Willis plans to go see Wilbur Crawford soon, and is pleased that his tent now has a radio and the battalion has a laundry.

Letter from John Todd Willis, Jr. to Mr. and Mrs. Ross M. Sams, on February 26, 1944. He thanks them for the handkerchiefs they sent him for Christmas, which he explains are hard to get in Italy, and tells them that the soldiers in his camp will be given three Cokes a week starting in March.

He explains that each soldier is allotted three Cokes a week starting March 1, and realizes that he's forgotten the taste. He went to see a movie and enjoyed it, and plans on going to a church service that night.

He's going to see Wilbur Crawford again soon, and says Crawford is lucky he only got a hole in his leg muscle instead of a broken bone. He asks his parents to send him some film, as well as his cousin Jimmie's address.

Interview with Navy veteran Richard Donley. The interview includes Donley's personal experiences about the Mediterranean Theater during World War II, boot camp, Fleet Torpedo School, encounters with German "F-lighter" armed barges and E-boats, various assignments, and combat against enemy destroyers. Donley also talks about screening operations for the invasions of Sicily and Salerno, operations along the coasts of northern Italy and southern France and the interdiction of German barge traffic, torpedo problems, commando and intelligence operations, returning to the States, his reassignment to the Motor Torpedo Boats Training Center, and transferring to Samar, Philippines.

Interview with Eugene Cronin, a US Army Air Corps WWII veteran and POW from Kansas City, Missouri. Cronin discusses his time as a B-24 crewmember stationed at Cerignola, Italy, the kinds of missions flown, his being shot down over Hungary and captured by the German Army, and his experiences in captivity at Vienna, Frankfurt, and Stalag Luft #1 near Barth in Western Pommerania.
