This report discusses a PAN-EARTH / Fondo Nacional de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (FONAIAP) Workshop on Crop Model Training and Calibration.

Report on a Modeling Crop and Climate Change workshop. The objectives of the workshop were: 1) train Venezuelan scientists in the use of agricultural models IBSNAT program (International Benchmark Sites Network for Agrotechnology Transfer), including discussions about their applicability and the acquisition of knowledge about the data needed for proper simulation and validation, 2) Calibrate the model of maize (CERES) for different cultivars and different regions of Venezuela using data from soil and climate corresponding to various tests, 3) Carry out model simulations under various climate scenarios to assess their potential effects on crops, 4) To strengthen the cooperation between users of IBSNAT models to make necessary tests to get a better database application thus facilitating validation and calibration of these models, and 5) To establish plans for future agricultural and meteorological research in the context of global climate change.

This volume of the report represents the technical findings of a study conducted on the ecological makeup of the Trinity River. The data presented includes: ambient toxicity test results and survival rates, United States Geological Survey (USGS) flow data, water quality data, as well as sediment quality data.

This report describes the findings of a study conducted on the Eastern Watersheds of Lake Lavon, Lake Ray Hubbard, Lake Tawakoni, Lake Palestine and Lake Fork, which are located within the Blackland Prairie, Post Oak Savannah and Pineywoods provinces. These watersheds are among nine that provide drinking water to Dallas, Texas. Study of visual perception during the naturalistic near-death out-of-body experience (nND OBE), that aspect of the NDE in which the experiencer seems to view normal physical surroundings from a vantage point outside the physical body, which yielded some unexpected findings that contradicted or augmented previous research. Each of these findings is discussed relative to previous research and analyzed in light of the limitations of the current study.

Article evaluating the selectivity of compounds originally identified as inhibitors of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase on members of the three classes of enzymes. The results suggest that micromolar levels of the benzamides in the culture medium should allow selective inhibition of poly(ADP-ribose) metabolism in intact cells. Furthermore, comparative quantitative inhibition studies should prove useful for assigning the biological effects of these inhibitors as an effect on either poly(ADP-ribose) or mono(ADP-ribose) metabolism.
