LBD29-Involved Auxin Signaling Represses NAC Master Regulators and Fiber Wall Biosynthesis (open access)

LBD29-Involved Auxin Signaling Represses NAC Master Regulators and Fiber Wall Biosynthesis

This article uses a large-scale mutant screening to identify a dominant activation-tagging mutant, fiberless-d (fls-d), showing defective SCW development in stem fibers, similar to that of the nac secondary wall thickening promoting factor1-1 (nst1-1)nst3-3 double mutant. The results demonstrate auxin is upstream of LBD29 in repressing NAC master regulators, and therefore sheds new light on the regulation of SCW biosynthesis in Arabidopsis.

An ecological measure to screen executive functioning in Multiple Sclerosis: the Picture Interpretation Test (PIT) 360°

This article's aim was to compare the efficiency of the Picture Interpretation Test 360° (PIT 360°) with traditional measures on executive dysfunction in Persons with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) and Healthy Controls (HC). Overall, the PIT 360° was concluded to be a quick, sensitive, and ecological tool that captures real-world executive dysfunction in PwMS. This engaging measure is sensitive for the detection of executive deficits since the early phases of the disease.

Health Problems of Clarinetists: An Epidemiologic Survey

Poster presenting results of a study that characterizes clarinet specific health problems such as site-specific pain, non-musculoskeletal issues, performance anxiety, and related variables including instrument type, use of neck-strap, educational attainment, musician identity, and other lifestyle and performance-related factors. An online survey specifically for clarinetists was developed using techniques adopted from a recent study of trombonists (interactive body maps, skip logic, etc.). In addition to clarinetists being underrepresented in previous epidemiologic research, previous studies did not consider the lower lip as being a potential pain site despite clarinet pedagogues mentioning this concern, proliferation of commercial products to help clarinetists manage lip pain, and the lip being a primary contact point between the instrument and the body. Consistent with findings from Thrasher and Chesky, clarinetists in this study also reported musculoskeletal problems in the right wrist area.
