This presentation discusses UNT Libraries’ experience in collaborating with UNT's College of Information (COI) faculty members and providing a real world environment for COI students to practically experience the intersection of people, technology, and information. The presentation highlights the benefits of UNT’s Libraries’ local, state-wide, national, and international projects, ranging from harvesting UNT websites, to the Texas Register archive established through a partnership with the Office of the Texas Secretary of State, to the End-of-Term Presidential Harvest (EOT) and International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC), a global network of experts archiving the web for future generations. Presentation for Ohio Valley Group of Technical Services Librarians Annual Conference 2019. This presentation argues that Authority control is an important part of cataloging since it helps provide consistent access to names, titles, subjects, and genre/forms. There are a variety of methods for providing authority control, ranging from manual, time-consuming processes to automated processes. However, the automated processes often seem out of reach for small libraries when it comes to using a pricey vendor or needing a cataloger with particular expertise. The presentation introduces several ideas on how to handle authority control using a variety of tools, both paid and free. It also describes how their library handles authority control; compare vendors and programs that can be used to provide varying levels of authority control; and demonstrate a few methods of providing some authority control for free using MarcEdit.

Presentation for Texas Conference on Digital Libraries 2019. This presentation discusses several emerging trends and scenarios that change the directions of scholarship in general: ranging from the availability of interoperable Open Access contents to cross discipline collaborations, big data and global and explosive growth of social networking. In particular, this presentation provides ETDs evolution in the last twenty years and provide example using the UNT experience. As one of the early adopters of ETD in 1999, the closer look at UNT's ETD collection provide interesting data about the the overall change in ETD production, usages, including locations and types of devices users used to access the ETD collection.

This presentation reviews the University of North Texas approach to revamp the philosophy for, and means of supporting, subject librarians as they provide library services to the university community. Crafting a new philosophy of liaison librarianship can be both an exciting and a daunting process. New models of service have emerged that offer exciting opportunities to improve librarian skill sets, clarify expectations of subject librarians, standardize assessment of liaisons, and identify a variety of strategies for providing liaison services.

This roundtable presentation and discussion provides an overview of outreach efforts at the UNT Libraries organized under the Comics Studies@UNT initiative from 2017-2019.
