Function of Conserved Residues of Human Glutathione Synthetase: Implications for the ATP-Grasp Enzymes
Article examining the mechanism of Glutathione synthetase, an enzyme that belongs to the glutathione synthetase ATP-binding domain-like superfamily. A variety of structural alignment methods were applied and four highly conserved residues of human glutathione synthetase (Glu-144, Asn-146, Lys-305, and Lys-364) were identified in the binding site. The function of these was studied by experimental and computational site-directed mutagenesis.

Co-training and Self-training for Word Sense Disambiguation
This paper investigates the application of co-training and self-training to word sense disambiguation. Optimal and empirical parameter selection methods for co-training and self-training are investigated, with various degrees of error reduction. A new method that combines co-training with majority voting is introduced, with the effect of smoothing the bootstrapping learning curves, and improving the average performance.

Finding Semantic Associations on Express Lane
This paper introduces a new codification scheme for efficient computation of measures in semantic networks. The scheme is particularly useful for fast computation of semantic associations between words and implementation of an informational retrieval operator for efficient search in semantic spaces. Other applications may also be possible.

An Overview of the Dallas-Fort Worth Area's Long-Term Water and Transportation Needs
This report gives an overview of the Dallas-Fort Worth area's long-term water and transportation needs. Recognizing the importance of a reliable long-term water supply, the Dallas/Fort Worth region has invested heavily in reservoirs and transmission facilities over the past 50 years. Indeed, the dramatic population and employment growth enjoyed by the Metroplex over the past several decades would not have occurred absent an abundant and reliable supply of fresh water for residential and commercial uses. Despite the foresightedness of the region's leaders, according to the Texas Water Development Board the region may soon find itself facing a water deficit. This report, by the University of North Texas Center for Economic Development and Research, examines the implications of the DFW area's long-term water and transportation needs.
