Effect of increased embryonic temperature during developmental windows on survival, morphology and oxygen consumption of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (open access)

Effect of increased embryonic temperature during developmental windows on survival, morphology and oxygen consumption of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

This article applies a developmental 3-dimensional critical window experimental design for a vertebrate, using time, temperature, and phenotypic response (i.e., variables measured). To assess thermal effects on fish development, the authors examined trout hatchling phenotypes following rearing in constant temperatures (5, 10, 15 and 17.5 Ā°C) and following exposure to increased temperature above 5 Ā°C during specific developmental windows.

Dynamic cerebral autoregulation is intact in chronic kidney disease (open access)

Dynamic cerebral autoregulation is intact in chronic kidney disease

Article describes how chronic kidney disease patients experience an elevated risk for cerebrovascular disease, and a factor that may contribute to this is an impairment in dynamic cerebral autoregulation. The authors test their hypothesis by comparing dynamic cerebral autoregulation between CKD patients stages III-IV and matched controls (CON) without CKD.

A general large-scale synthesis approach for crystalline porous materials (open access)

A general large-scale synthesis approach for crystalline porous materials

Article describes how crystalline porous materials such as covalent organic frameworks (COFs) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and porous organic changes (POCs) have been widely applied in various fields with outstanding performances. In this work, the authors developed a general approach comprising high pressure homogenization (HPH), which can realize large-scale synthesis of crystalline porous materials including COFs, MOFs, and POCs under benign conditions.
