Presentation with speakers' notes describing the Trans Accessible Libraries Initiative at the University of North Texas Libraries. This initiative uses findings documented in recent studies addressing information seeking behaviors of transgender persons and their perceptions of the library to provide more equitable access to their services and collections. The presentation shares the needs assessment, collection development process, promotion and outreach, and next steps related to this initiative in hopes that other libraries can modify them to serve marginalized populations in their communities.

This literature review provides an overview of outreach in academic libraries over the last five years. The review aims to centralize the common activities and general purposes of outreach while also bringing emphasis to more strategic outreach efforts such as the incorporation of learning outcomes and assessment into outreach. The review also provides commentary on how outreach can be used to affect information literacy and research.
