An Extreme X-Ray Variability Event of a Weak-line Quasar
Article reports the discovery of an extreme X-ray flux rise (by a factor of ≳20) of the weak-line quasar Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) J153913.47+395423.4 (hereafter SDSS J1539+3954) at z = 1.935. SDSS J1539+3954 is the most-luminous object among radio-quiet type 1 active galactic nuclei (AGNs) where such dramatic X-ray variability has been observed.

A Phosphonic Functionalized Biopolymer for the Sorption of Lanthanum (III) and Application in the Recovery of Rare Earth Elements
Authors of the article state that in the first step of their experiment, the sorption was investigated using La(III) ions before testing for the recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) from pretreated industrial acidic leachate. They infer that phosphonate groups participate in the sorption, and that the most effective sorption is at pH = 4.

Using a Partial Sum Method and GPS Tracking Data to Identify Area Restricted Search by Artisanal Fishers at Moored Fish Aggregating Devices in the Commonwealth of Dominica
This article explores research to identify area-restricted search foraging behavior at fish aggregating device (FAD) patches. Movement data were collected from GPS devices placed on foraging trips originating in the artisanal fishing village of Desa Ikan (pseudonym), on the east coast of the Caribbean island nation of the Commonwealth Dominica. The goal of the research is to understand how property rights are emerging after the introduction of fish aggregating device (FAD) technology at the site in 1999.
